Been working out the setup of my intercooler, radiator, and front winch. Layout is gonna change a bit. It seems I have the real estate available (thanks to moving the engine back 6" haha) for a full-size winch, so I'll likely scratch the idea of shortening the drum.

I ended up cutting out the X bracing I had in front of the engine. Simply wasn't going to work the way it was.

    Old pic -

    [IMG]DSC09729 by wyo_taco45, on Flickr

I doubt it's even necessary?? :notsure: If I really should have it, I could put it in front of the radiator.

I know that I need some shock isolation for the radiator, but do I need the same for the intercooler?

Worse in at louis. I hate it. Amazingly. This spring has been super mellow and very cool temps. Should be perfect cause when I go how to wyo spring will just be starting almost in the mountains haha

The intercooler should get a little ISO. But not super nessiscary granted for what your going to be doing, I think you should.

Thanks. I'm trying to figure out a setup using straps to some extent. Two mounting bolts on only one side isn't gonna be enough, IMO.

I'm thinking about getting one of those large fans for the garage to keep the air moving and the rust at bay.

I think you'll still have to clean the metal no matter what you do... I say if you're done with a piece of steel, paint it. Won't rust anymore.

Compound turbo is not a bad way to go.

Its a big headache... To get some low end torque, may not be a bad idea though.

    Twin charge would be easier.

Maybe. You would want a way to bypass the S/C if +6k rpms is the goal. Def 10k. I don't think the S/C bypass valve will work but could be wrong.

Yea but you wouldn't need that high of revs with twin charge.

He thought about it. Trust me.

But he had already fit the whole drive line around the 3rz.

Yeah. Engine cage, link setup, axle placement, crossmember, mounts, etc all designed around the current drivetrain. Almost finished with the mounting for the radiator, intercooler, winch and hood pins today. I'll post pics when it's done.

Monte, got a link to that upgraded stock turbo for the 2jz? Any way you could make it work with the 3rz?

Yeah he was more interested in instant boost though; he probably could have just got some smaller turbos for that. Also noticed he wasn't using twin scroll turbos due to the log design header. If he had a better header design and used twin scroll turbos, he would have seen at least a %10 decrease in spool rate.

What I like about his setup is there isn't that inherent drop in power mid way through the RPMs you see on most sequential turbo setups. Its a pretty smooth dyno. But like any sequential turbo setup, its complicated as hell.
