Got the injectors out of the 4 Runner last night, but I'm not going into work today because I need to stay home with the family today. It looks like there was a food poisoningish thing going on last night :(

@noahpete, you don't happen to remember which cylinders the two "new" rebuilt injectors were in, do you?

You said 1 and 2 leaked worst, then 6 was dry, and 3, 4, and 5 were wet, right? I'm curious if the two injectors that were replaced in January are among the best or the worst of the 6 injectors as far as leaking goes. IIRC, those 2 that we bought (to replace the 2 that failed) looked a little different (newer/shinier) from the other 4 (the ones he gave a passing grade to). We picked them up from the injector place in January and took them over to the mechanic to install, but I can't remember which cylinders he put them in. No biggie if you don't remember, just curious.

If there is concern about the return fuel line being clogged, why don't you just take a air line, put a gage on and blow down the return line...if you remove the cap you should hear bubbles:)

OK, FWIW, called the place they were cleaned in Jan (the report in that grey notebook). He said they run them at ~40-45 PSI, but then later he also said they have the option to run them as high as 150 PSI, so they typically adjust the PSI up and down a few times through the test to simulate different scenarios they'd go through when driving/turning car off/etc, but never all the way up to the max of 150 because he said that would be bad for the injectors and bad for the machines. I explained our PSI is 57 in the truck all the time when it's running, which is in excess of spec (spec is 38-44, right?). I asked him if that could force different injectors to leak over and over, through no fault of their own somehow. At first he said could be faulty FPR, but then he said ultimately the injectors should still hold pressure of ~20-25, even if the FPR wasn't doing it's part properly. I told him it drops to zero by next morning, then starts normally, and asked if that could be from the injectors leaking overnight, and he said yep, but faulty FPR and/or damaged fuel line would do the same.

Unfortunately we don't have a report from when the engine guys said they had them serviced in Dec - they said they couldn't find it. So in February I called the place the engine folks said they'd sent them, and that place said they'd just finished purging all of their files from previous years and didn't have a copy of our December injector results either.

Just FWIW, thanks for reading all :) Time to mow, have a good one TW people! : )

It is quite possible they were never sent out the first time Sounds kind of funny no one has any records .

I need to keep my business records for 7 years but in my case it is closer to 25 I need to clean house.

This. They never checked them. Why the Fuck would you not keep records, especially when you have a customer is having issues!

    Hoping for the best.

You can get OEM injectors for less than $1200, more like $200 to $300.....it does looks like the injectors are the problem....go for it...

Yep, steering wheels changed in 2001. I put my 1998 on my 2004. For it to work you need to change the ribbon cable. The later models had a 4 pin connector, t h e earlier ones were a 5 pin connector on the ribbon cable.

Don't hold me to this info, I'm still chasing down my faulty cruise control on the 2004.

thanks, so im looking for just the 01-04 wheels.

but since I have the 04 wheel does it have that ribbon cable already? or is it part of the wheel itself and it has to be a CC wheel?

or is the ribbon cable part of the column? still not sure why the older wheel wont work or are you saying it will but the CC in it has to be swapped for the 01-04 style?

as you can tell im still very confused and for my truck, I have no CC now, plus I have a FUBAR wheel thats coming apart so i cant just drill a hole for the CC so I am looking for a CC wheel to hook up the CC

ps - do you remember who it was in this thread helping Jen that had an extra parts truck laying around? I want to PM them and see if they might have a steering wheel I can use? I saw it like 50-60 pages back somewhere lol.

Out for drinks at the No Name Pub on Big Pine Key. Playing around with the Google Camera app on my phone.

It was me that had the parts truck. Unfortunately the parts you need are the ones I used for my new, 1st gen.

The ribbon cable is under the wheel, attached to the column.

I can only imagine what folks viewing this thread for the first time (expecting to learn about hot start solutions) must be thinking through these last few pages. Deer, drinks, steering wheels. You guys are quite entertaining at filling the voids :) Well that's one very nice way of putting it. Or, you could put it like this:

    :infantry::threadjacked::fenforcer:

Ha ha, JK. Keeps it lively : )
Is it time for a Friday afternoon Waylon song?

Hoping noahpete is feeling better and not working too hard!! :)

Happy Friday TW!! Hurray for weekends :D
