So last week I noticed I had an oil leak. It didn't seem too bad upon first investigation and just wrote it off as the notorious timing chain cover leak. Well today while installing my wheel spacers things look incredibly worse and leaking in a different location.
Looks as though it's the seal below the harmonic balancer. I have pictures. So please give me opinions. On whether you think this may be the source and what kind of job am I looking at to fix this leak.

I'm going to post all the pictures I took. Some may not be useful.

Try cleaning it very well with brake cleaner, and then check.

It may be from the #1 oil pan to block mating surface.

Yea a tsb if your under warranty.not at 155000 miles when the problem shows up. Like I said there is a light coat of oil near the power steering pump and timing chain cover but below the crank shaft there is a hella of lot of oil.

I would guess that it's the crankshaft seal behind the crankshaft pulley.

^^ this. Myine leaked there and looked like it was the timing chain cover. Just replace both the sea and pulley.

Take it to a good non-dealership shop. They will fix you up. Their labour rate should be cheaper than the dealership. Or, tackle it yourself. A subscription to alldata DIY only costs $16 or so for a year, and it'll give you helpful hints.

With wet (not caked-on) oil on the surfaces shown it certainly looks bad, but how much oil is actually leaking out? As in do you have to top it regularly, maybe a quart every 1K mile or less?

If it happened to me and my Tacoma with high miles, rusting out frame, breaking springs I'd be tempted to just keep feeding it oil if not too bad a leak.

Not a ton of oil but more than I want to put in it. It's just the way I am. If I can fix it it's going to be fixed. I do not like having an oil leak.

Well folks I changed back to high mileage oil and it seems as though all my leaks have ceased. That was 3k miles ago and everything is dry.

Have always ran castrol high mileage and for some reason since I had some extra change in my pocket I went synthetic also castrol. Did two synthetic oil changes and it started leaking about 2500 miles into the second synthetic oil change. Went back to castrol high mileage and bam dry as a bone for 4k miles.

That doesn't surprise me at all. I went to dino in my 2012 at 34000 miles. I'm going to change it more frequently.
