no way man, $100 tops for color match from Vatozone and some clear. If you take your time and prep and sand in the correct steps and really spend the time polishing, it turns out awesomely.

 

X2! Those FJ wheels you did turned out pretty nice! I think you'd be waiting a long time for a color matched part out. Tacoma front end on 4runners are badass!! Kinda wish they were more compatible for 5th gen runner to 2nd gen Tacoma

 

Want to paint my hood? Haha

Yeah it's tough to find them but I've been looking. Missed out on an OEM red 4Runner sport hood yesterday by 10 minutes. I was pissed.

 

I'm actually kicking around getting a big air compressor and paint gun to paint my fenders and bumper. cheapest I've found was a super sketch dude that said he'll paint my truck in my driveway for $450 lol. I think I'd rather just do it myself and make a paint booth in the garage. Initial buy in with probably be about $500 for all the necessary stuff (+/- $200 I'm guessing) but after that it would just be buying paint. I did a pretty bang up job painting my fiber glass in the alley behind my old apartment in San Diego. Imagining myself with the proper tools and and a garage makes me think i can do it myself pretty well!

 

Has anyone replaced brake lines/bled brakes before? I partially watched it done on mine and bumped the brakes, but I'm not quite confident in doing it by myself. Anyone not busy this weekend care to help me swap out brake lines? Free beer and possibly some BBQ thrown in at my place. *warning* I only have Bud light at the moment, but if you request a 6 pack of anything I'll go get it

I'm up in Fairfield, but wouldn't mind heading to someone else's house to help install stuff or whatever

I'd be down to help but am busy for the next few weekends. I would suggest speed bleeders, they make it an easy one man job.

 

Ugh, trying to spend the least amount of money on this truck to return it stock

 

I just did mine not too long ago. If you have someone to help you out a hose and Gatorade bottle works well.

1. Take a hose that fits around the bleed nips on the brakes. Drill a hole in the lid of the bottle so the hose fits in and make another smaller hole as a breather. Then cut the hose so it's long enough that the bottle rests on the ground while connected.

2. Pump the brakes about 20 times with the truck off. After that many presses the petal should be firm at first then give all the way down. This purges something, but it's a key step.

3. Turn the truck on and get your helper to press the brakes while you open the valve.

4. Start with the brake furthest from the MC (passenger rear). Then as your helper presses the brake open the valve and bleed them a bit.

5. Don't let off the brake while the bleed valve is open and make sure you top off the MC while you work.
