In that case I hope they offer it as a permanent model option so you can get yours too! I hate these cameo options.

 

For now they do, but it wont be for long. With technology now, V6's and 4 bangers are leaving V8's in the dust and matching or beating their numbers in HP and TQ but with superior gas mileage numbers to boot. The ecoboost V6 is a fine example of a 6 that beats the V8 all across the board and that's the direction it's going. I like V8's, but they are old hat in 2015, the newer engine technology is vastly making them completely obsolete.
Used to be having a V8 was the only way you got awesome power and torque in a truck, but things have changed a lot since then. I'm sure the 4Runner will get the 3.5 Atkinson V6 before it ever sees a V8 again, there's a reason they quit offering the V8 option, it probably wasn't a big seller. I think the 4.0 came close to matching it in performance and mileage anyway and the V6 option was more affordable.

 

Yeah I remember back then that nobody wanted the v8 one-I very rarely saw one. But now, it seems to me the buying public still love their v8s at least around here! I constantly have plenty of v8 vehicles to envy as I jones for my own.
Your point about the v6s & 4s is true. You bet Ford put themselves at the head with that Eco.

 

I love my V8's as well, the one in my Mustang is powerful as all hell and is the fastest thing I own.

 

I think that title rightfully belongs to the 350 Chevy imo, those things are hard to beat.

 

What Mustang do you own?

I would add most, but not all, SBC family of engines from the last 60 years fall into that category.
Like all large families, there were a couple of not-so-stellar members. 400,307, etc,come to mind.

This is true. And can be boosted to some insane numbers.

But, I much rather have a boosted V6 or 4 cyl than a NA V8. Especially living at 5280'.
