Do you have to use the existing top shock mount for these?

 

Couldn't tell you. I assumed it worked with all the original hardware, never really researched it.

 

Someone buy this so I dont convince myself i need it and drive up there....

Actually if 5100's would use your stock top shock mounts. Than I guess this would be no difference

 

Correct. I believe it mounts to stock hardware
