I watched those kind of programs and got interested in archaeology. Turned out I have a lot of limestone rocks I found near my house with ancient clamshells in them. I researched and found they're about 335 million years old.. Pretty cool to touch a 335 million year old clamshell embedded in limestone.

Probably A-TRAC and locker, LSD. It's the exterior of an SR5 with chrome and a luxury interior. If you go offroad I woulnd't get it. I would get a different model and remove the chrome.

Interesting. I always thought the 05 Tacoma and 05 Forester looked very similar.

Like many on here, I like the looks of the 2016, but I like my 2013 Baja series MT - not many around. I'll be in the market in four years or so, then the new style will be old hat.

Another lull in the 2016 Tacoma news... could be this way for several months.

My dealer can't order it on his next allocation (May 7th). He doesn't expect news now until around the 25th, but then he'd only have package details and not engine specs.

I have wondered if the gen 3 is not a clean sheet redesign because they need to continue to produce frames for the gen 2 frame recall. Even though the frame is improved (and lighter), it could perhaps be designed to retro-fit with the gen 2? Makes sense from a cost and design point of view.
Another reason might be crash testing. Keeping the cab as is (the Tacoma has a great crash-test rating) will mean less of a chance to score bad on a crash test. People complain about the new Tacoma not being totally new but people rarely talk about the Ford Super Duty having the same basic bones since 1998. 17 years is a long time!

A friend works at the GM plant that assembles the Chevy Equinox. He bought one due to a plant employee promotion ($3000 discount) in addition to other discounts.. anyway, first hard rain, the spare tire wheel well fills up with a 2 inches of water. He tells me each vehicle is run through a test shower for this reason and vehicles that don't pass that test, are pulled from the line and fixed. I told him don't waste your time going to your dealer, the dealer won't have a clue where to look, talk to a floor manager at the plant, the crew responsible for that area would know exactly where it's leaking from.. He does just that and the manager tells him to bring his Equinox into the factory, and he had it fixed and then they ran it through the wetness test and it didn't leak.

Which makes me wonder why it wasn't spotted and fixed in the first place when every car is run thru that water test? In the above video, that should not have passed inspection.

Unfortunately, this is the kind of thing that keeps me away from GM vehicles. I'm hoping quality will be a priority on the new Taco. I'm patiently waiting.

I have a feeling that most people on here talk shit about the 3rd gen because they are jealous because they can't get them. Just like when a new iPhone comes out and they can't upgrade yet they say how stupid and pointless it is to have one. Just my thoughts........:spy:
