Handgun holster no drilling

I looked for awhile and found other good ideas for a handgun vehicle holster but they were either expensive or involved a lot of panel pulling and rigging. I bought this holster from Walmart for about $20 and used some paracord I had lying around.

 

sweet find. i've been in the same boat as you... didn't want to make any destructive mods to the panels.

 

What is the protocol if you get pulled over with this piece between your legs?

 

depends from state to state. In ohio, i'm free to have a loaded gun on me or in my truck with a conceal carry license. Probably the same for Florida. In state like IL, the gun has to be separate from the ammunition, and in separate latching storage bins. Now that IL has a conceal carry law, i don't know how/if the vehicle changed.

 

I live in Nebraska and as long as I have my CCW license on me I can have the weapon wherever I want in the vehicle as long as it is, and this is quoted from state law, "safely contained". Also if I get pulled over now I would just put my hands face up on the steering wheel because when they run your plates they know you have a CCW and nowadays I'm sure that makes some officers nervous. Personally if someone went through the process of getting a CCW, especially in Nebraska because it isn't very easy, I would trust them way more to be on the legal side of the fence. Getting back on topic though, yes I did not want to mar up panels and screw and glue anything in so this is what worked best for me.

 

In Texas you can have a concealed gun in the vehicle at age 18. Some states are more gun friendly than Texas so it would not surprise me if that was the case in many other states also. Here, it's under the Castle law - your vehicle is an extension of your home.

Great thread! Went w/ this set up in my rig:

bought a napkin holder from

$7 Winco BC-6 Bar Caddy with 6 Compartments,Black,Medium

Amazon for the center console & used the holster that came w/ my Springfield xds. Drilled a hole through the napkin holder & holster and attached them w/ a small nut & bolt. no drilling to the console itself. super pleased w/ this set up as my gun stays put & allows the center console to close fully. only enough room for subcompact guns.

 

Very clean setup. I really like that it's mounted in the console with no drilling. If I ever convince the wife to carry I'll be sure to do that idea for hers and it's an sr9c.

 

Awesome, I have a 9 in black. What round are you carrying in it? I haven't started carrying mine yet, I'm still breaking it in on fmj's.

 

I use Winchester 147 grain hollow point for every day carry and just the herters 115 grain aluminum case rounds for target practice. I've had better luck with my casings fully ejecting with aluminum instead of brass, and yes I know I could just shoot higher grain count but why pay more just to blow through a couple hundred rounds at once.

 

I haven't had any trouble with FTE on white box or federal, but when my sister shoots it she has multiple FTEs, I'm almost positive she limp wrists it a little. Lol

That's a pretty good idea that you've put into use, there. Kudos.

I think I'm going to make a frame out of wood, and bolt a few pieces of kydex to it - holster, double mag pouch, and a pouch for my Surefire. I usually carry "on body" only; however, driving long distances carrying my Glock 17 or 19 in an appendix rig does get a little old after a few hours.

 

I hear ya- on longer trips it's a blessing.

I carry iwb @ 4-5 o'clock position. Seems like if I needed draw while in the truck, it's a safer & faster system as i'm not fighting the seatbelt.

 

In MS, all i do is let the officer know there is a firearm in the vehicle, he will then tell me OK, or OK, please exit the vehicle, or Ok, where is the weapon located.
No permit needed or anything.

 

Before finding this picture on Google, I had just set up my Holster... Great minds think alike, I guess! lol

No I didn't. I actually didn't even look at specifics. I just found one that looked about right and rolled the dice on it and got lucky. I did notice that they had multiple styles of this holster at Walmart though.
