Whaaa? That sounds weird dude. I caked a large amount of copper gasket maker on both sides of the paper gasket and it's been air tight ever since. I didn't even use the stock studs... didn't even know they fit. And I hate tailgaters as much as anyone else, but when you're one late clock-in away from a write up on a morning that took 10 snooze slaps to wake up and the guy in front of you who's citizenship looks questionable (no offense to anyone, but dayum) is going 25-30mph in a 40mph zone with no one in front of him, that successfully makes some people forget how to drive safely.

:anonymous:Lmao.....haven't got everything on yet chris. I'm getting there. Oil pan and most everything else is up. Figured I might as well do the headers while I'm under there for the diff. Should take 2 days, I'm hoping?

No need for the paper gasket at that point, but that should work
Get some Toyota Studs (Toyota Part 90126-08001) and some M8 1.25 bolts (IIRC) for your O2 sensor. Install it on your down pipe before you install your downpipe on the truck and use the Cu RTV.

Also, remember, you need to remove your starter to install the passenger side turbo headers.
    :p

Nothing takes two days when turboing a non turbo vehicle. Ask Chris ;) he thought the whole project would be a 3 month deal....

Two days for headers, mounting wastegate/turbo, vaccum, coolant, oil, and dropping diff for oil pan is very doable. Especially with my tacoma brothers who have paved the way and given me super helpful info. The intercooler, methanol, and boost controller/wideband are already in. 3 days tops. I'm a ninja, so I'll let you know how that works. Getting the information you need, parts, and all I need has been 4 months in the works.

Not true!! The year+ delay was because of a "promotion" at work. Once I had the IC rout planned out, oil pan done and redone, valve cover gaskets done and redone, aux injector's installed, the fuel pump installed, the FIC installed, the FIC re-installed, the FIC re-re-installed, it only took me two 12-16 hours days to get the turbo hardware on. Then it took a few months to reinstalled the crossover pipe a few times and down pipe more times than I can remember, figure out my O2 was leaking, install a new wastegate, get a new exhaust installed (a little detour to fix some shocks), and I should get the dyno next week...

Fucking fine, Ill give you this one Monte...

Josh, don't rush it. I was in over my head but I worked it out slowly and learned a lot. Def get a second or third hand to help with the install. Also do yourself a favor and get a Tial wastegate. Don't bother trying to run the Cx gate with an open wastegate design.

So Monte, when are you getting your kit? Would love to see that tank of yours flying across Wyoming :p

A little birdy told me you were looking into cantilever rear LT... :jellydance:

You'll see man. Whatever time frame you think it'll happen in...double or triple it and that's where it'll end up usually.

    Trust me.

Do as Chris says. Take your time. Don't rush
    Hahahahahahaha :p I told you! I wasn't kidding! :D

I'm throwing the idea around of putting a snail on Frank..but still throwing the idea of a 2jz around too..it'll be one of those..just not sure yet. Probably just turbo it though I think. Shall see how the time frame lines up.

What birdie was that?? Haha I was for a long time..decided to just link it though when I cage it.

I have an eBay wastegate. Only bought my billet turbo, headers, and a universal 2.5 charge pipe kit from cx. (About $1150 for the cx stuff, but my turbo is billet and ceramic bb.....GT30....) I see the tial wg's are about $265. I'm going to use the eBay one. I see no difference in the mechanics of the device, very simple they are, just like the turbos.....bunch of steel, spring, diaphragm. The construction is almost identical. ok, ok, machining, tolorance, blah, blah. If you gather some intel many Chinese companies manufacturers have very high tech machining processes. Comparable to stateside. Anywho......I could see a tial for the diaphragm construction. If this is what is so superior I may look into this in the future but will stick to my eBay wg for the present.

I will say that in the world of performance and turbo stuff...you get what you pay for. Every time.

I have long travel up front right now. And I'll 4 link the rear.

A t-shirt is a t-shirt whether it says Polo on it or walmart. To each his or her own......but yes, some Chinese stuff is garbage.

No man, I was just wanting to know if it is going to be a LT/4 link rearend, or just 4 link? I've read your good build several times......

Oh, and I got my ebc/wideband in one, and alcohol injection up, but not running until boost nasty.......!

Link would be nice but wouldn't you lose your bed? 2JZ stroked to 3.4 would be bad ass. Talking big bucks though.
Mechanics are the same, yes. Problem is the Cx valve seat wasn't machined very well and didn't give a full seal. I got a Tial for under $200 (I think $160 is their entry model) and the machining is night and day. If you have a closed loop waste gate, not much of an issue. The leak by may degrade performance a bit but you probably wouldn't notice at the level you are running. But the Cx kit is an open waste gate which will allow the gate to suck in air from the atmosphere. Screw up your O2 readings.

Btw, if you don't have a daily driver, Id recommend one before tearing into your truck.

Oh, yea just 4 link the rear. Go for probably 20-22'' travel.

Yea i'll loose some bed space. But not much. Not the way i have it worked i my head. Coil overs will mount right behind the cab and be part of the cage coming out of the cab. Fuel cell in between them basically. So hopefully when all said and done i only loose about a foot if that and some width for about a 1/3 or 1/2 of the bed.

I also thought of doing a 3 link with trail arms which retails the full bed other then the coilovers poking out a bit. But...4 link is nicer in the long run. Should work out..i have it all in my head so that means it'll work right? :cookiemonster: haha

Dude fuck ya. If money was no object, id totally do a titanmotorsports stroker kit to 3.4l on a 2jz. But yea...HUGE money. Like..7 grand...for just the kit..the basic kit..but god damn

    knock on wood.

Noticed you said coilovers, not springs. I was thinking the same thing. Wondering feasibility wise if you could repurpose a 4runners? Cut it all off at a junk yard, or another vehicles, but I'd want to keep it all yoda.
