Yup, I am convinced. Every household should have a borescope. The uses seem endless. Totally buying one.

Very cool that you learned from the thread! We had some seriously awesome advice given throughout. It's truly been an honor to have the opportunity to talk with/learn so much from all of these fellow Taco (and 4Runner!) owners. These forums are pretty darn awesome if ya ask me, good stuff! :)

By the way, part of me wishes we would have tried to rebuild our engine. Although, easy to say that now that it's not an option :rofl:But really, even though we wouldn't have known what the hell we were doing, I honestly think we probably would have done a better job than the lovely folks who did it for us, because we actually care about doing it well, so we probably would have done whatever it took to teach ourselves and get it right. Although, again, easy to say that now......

I have a friend right at this current time, who is fighting me about MSD 6's and the right coil to go with them. I finally gave in and told him it will probably be better if he learns the hard way. Carry a spare OEM coil, because he will need it eventually and sooner than later. Spends the money to have a hotter spark, only to hinder it with the wrong coil and light duty plug wires that will burn shit up. He did listen about getting a active power filter for his Unilite distributor, to save from nuking the $100 module in it with a voltage spike. Whatever. One cannot say I did't try.

Accel flamethrower is a snappy sparker,,with the right gear. A dual point probably would have worked out good with that. That and being on the correct side of the ballast with good condensers,,lol.

Mallory high rpm coil hits right at 55,000volts,,and let me tell you. It latches on to you ,,and you will see the future,,hahaha!

You could take a drive over to Pa and wash my truck I doubt it has been washed since I own it unless the rain counts.

Despite having a almost new pressure washer.

    Have a great get away!!

Just don't wear conductive shoes while working on the ignition...the system in finally stable. I got a couple of boxes of vintage condensors from Rock Auto, wired the coil to the low side of the ballast and it has been good for a couple of years...on the same point.

But the point really was that we can find single failures easy enough, it is the combined failures that give us grief:)

Never had so much fun putting the topper on and cleaning the truck. Little baby neighbor Emily and her parents came over to hang out, and Emily decided she REALLY wanted to "drive" the Taco. Of course I didn't have my camera for what happened next, the cutest stuff I've ever seen in my life. So you'll have to imagine her standing in the driver's seat (pushed all the way forward of course), holding the steering wheel with both hands and trying with all her might to shake it while hollering VROOM VROOM, VROOM VROOM!!!!!!!! Shit, I better never show her where I keep the keys!! For real!! Then I picked her up and asked her if she wanted to go to Toyota tech school with me. Not kidding, and we repeated this twice in case it was a fluke - she enthusiastically nodded her little head yes both times!! Final cute moment was when we set her in the Taco bed after we had the topper on. She started running around and screaming with excitement in her new little "cave" - until she noticed Eric's tool box he'd left back there - open. Not kidding you guys - she beelined over to it and started grabbing wrenches and squealing in delight while waving them around!!! Then she wanted to deliver the wrench to the guys. So super cute.

We're running into some obstacles with our weekend plan, might change our destination from Prineville to elsewhere. Mod, you vote Hood, right? Hmmm. Wonder what the weather is at the coast.....doing some planning now.........

Thanks Wyoming!! :) Yeah, three cheers:cheers: for pressure washers!! So excited to spend more time using that instead trying to figure out how to fix the Taco!

We NEVER used to wash the Taco. Or the Civic for that matter. Really, we just didn't. But it's amazing how a person suddenly gives a shit about the silliest little cosmetic details after they are unexpectedly forced to fork over a huge pile of cash to keep 'em. Even got out the Goof Off and attacked those stupid little pine tar spots. She's looking good!!!!! :D

The topper for my taco is going into the paint shop next week to match the white of the truck, with orange highlights for University of Tennessee games. Now headed over the mountain to Boone to Rubitrux and HighCountry Four Wheel Drive for some Jeep Rubicon parts. I see a jeep apart in my shop this afternoon...

As for pressure washers, mine has run over 10 hours in the last few weeks...much more time than normal.

You could run down to Newport. Snack some awesome seafood right on the water,,run thru all the shit shops. Take the Salem cutoff over to there. A neat drive going that way.

@noahpete and @Jayman405, do you guys care what time we come on Monday? Or do you care if it's Tuesday morning instead? We're flexible, just wondered what your schedules are like....and we can pick it up another day (whenever) - meaning, we wouldn't be in a rush to get it back if you wanted to keep it a day or two or whatever after we drop it off to have our fancy new injectors installed!!! :)

PS: Eric was able to get Monday off :)

@noahpete and @Jayman405, thank you for your help!! We'd love to have those injectors ordered for us and have noahpete put them in this week! We also talked about replacing the FPR at the same time, and I'm on a crappy tiny laptop right now so can't type enough to explain why (bad internet connection too), but if it's no trouble for you, would you mind having a Toyota FPR for the Taco ordered if not already on hand, then could we decide for sure on it later when we could talk about it w/ you guys more?

We plan to bring hte Taco Mon night to drop ff I think, can leve it as long as you want us to, no rush to get it back

might slightly alter that plan, pending when injctors arrive and what's happening with your and our schedules, but we promise we aren't taking off with noahpete's injectors and taco says thanks for the loan, i'm out having fun again, got a littlr dirty yesterday!!! had our 1st start leaving a remote hike yesterday, fired right up, had a hell of a nice drive back to town after just cruising pretty country hgwys, felt awesome!! pics coming soon! : ) sorry for typos, starting to seem like this whole nasty ordeal was nothing but a bad dream....

oops this is jen not eric

new bumper sticker idea for taco: 1st Gen Jen, whaddya think?

Love this idea!! Can't remember if you get 6 or 7 characters............if 7, it could read: 1GENJEN

Not sure if you only get 6 though....

TW, usually Eric drives on the backroad washboard stuff, yesterday i decided i would drive us out of our hiking spot, 1st time (embarrassed to admit that!) i've driven on that kind of stuff, made sure to hit every mud puddle as hard as i could!!!! it was sooooooooooooooooooooo much fun!! can't believe what i've been missing out on all these years, from now on i am the backroads driver!! he loved it too, got to sit back and look around for once! we passed a big caravan of tacos, and wondered if any of them were you guys!! gave us an idea, we should all meet up in eastern oregon and have a giant taco/4Runner rally!! that would be so fun.

at our trailhead, there were 4 other vehicles, all big trucks, and one of the 4 was a taco identical to ours, black with topper and everything, same yr, style, all that. pretty cool. hiked down into "crack in the ground" which is this crazy deep gorge/cave thing that you can climb down into, really neat, got some great pics, will post when we get back, off to another hike now : )
