I just purchased my first Tacoma at a Toyota dealership as a certified Pre owned. It is a 2009 Access cab, and has the TRD SR5 Sport 4x4 packages. This truck had one owner, and only 25000 miles on it. Service records show that the original owner did all scheduled maintenance for the time that he had it at this dealership. The only issue that I found was that he had the Transmission replaced at around 9000 miles. I have driven this truck for about 500 miles and it has been great. Anyone have an idea as to why the Transmission would need to be replaced after only 9000 miles?

Maybe he was towing too much weight.

This. Other than that it could have been a manufacturer flaw but not much else.

Do you think that the replacement transmission will perform and last as long as the factory one?

If it is an OEM transmission with OEM fluid than there should be no difference from one off the assembly line if that's what your asking?

Edit: I said it that way for the sake of your understanding. It is definitely an OEM transmission and I'm sure it has new OEM fluid in it. You have nothing to worry about.

New transmission should work fine; additionally it is certified pre owned, so you should be covered for a reasonable amount of time to determine any issues.

Welcome to TW!Possibly to much towing caused the transmission to be replaced.New transmission should be fine and your Tacoma is certified so you should have coverage in case you have issues.
