My tacoma was made in February of 02 and in June i was refereed to Toyota by an inspection officer about Frame Rot and other stuff and the guy took me to my car and poked a hole in the frame with his pen like nothing, and Toyota called me and told me they would spray some anti corrosion shit on my frame and warranty it for 20 years and they did in July, and i looked at it last wednesday to see how it was holding up and it has pretty much stripped off and all the other stuff is very flaky, and they won't return my call about it. Has anyone else had a problem like this, and how did you resolve it because its been a week you would think they would call me back in a few days tops, especially since i call daily to check the status. Can anyone throw me some insight please, thanks.

They should have to replace you frame under the rust frame warranty. Take it to any major toyota dealer and ask them about that.

I would really like them to do that, but i cant contact them, how do you deal with them faster because i don't want to go into winter with this problem because i don't want the raw metal exposed to elements, if i didn't think it would void the warranty i would grind it off myself and spray it up with some heavy duty utility paint which would work a hell of alot better than the rustoleum it looks like they used.

literally if you've ever used rustoleum it feels like that, and i've only put 1000 miles on the truck since the re-spray, its absurd

I was actually about to start a new thread about this basic topic. I was just reading the Toyota Frame letter and called my local dealer. They told me to come on down, from the moment I walked into the door it only took them about 40 minutes total to look at my frame and decide I need a replacement. They estimate it'll be about 2 weeks, and gave me a Scion Xb as a rental until its done, no cost to me for anything. I don't want to hijack your thread, so maybe I'll start another, but I wanted to hear peoples experience with frame replacement. I know quality depends on the dealer, but overall would people who've had it done recommend it, are you happy with the job they did, and did you get any warranty for the work when finished? I'm just a little leery of them screwing something up and me having to pay for their shoddy work a year down the road.

I'm just lucky my frame on my 2000 is in excellent condition with minor surface spots. I am hitting my entire frame with undercoating. luckily is spent its life in CA, and NJ where they use no salt. 1 winter in MA, but here in FL, I am safe. Because I would not get a new frame, but a check, and have to look for a new truck....

Ya, my brother in law lived on base at Mcguire. He was always off somewhere(Afghanistan and Iraq) and I don't think he drove through much of it, the frame is in excellent condition. He was based there for 2 years, 4-6 in CA. I bought it this past Feb.

your lucky cuz our winters can suck here. not as bad as the midwest where they get 100ft of snow in july but still sucks. they kill the roads with salt. roads are destroyed cuz of it.

Is it just me or would anyone else feel bad about selling their truck back to toyota knowing that its going to be destroyed? When i first hear of the frame recall it got me worried I love my truck but the 21,000 I would get for it would be nice.

I live in an area were we have harsh winters and the roads are regularly salted. My fame still looks pretty clean. I wonder why some trucks are affected worse than others.

The buy back only applies to the 95.5-00's. The 01-04's get a new frame instead, don't ask me why.
