I'm just going to sell my truck! Then nobody will steal it or anything on it! HAha I win, nobody thought of that.

It's easier to steal money than truck parts.

I agree, however it is nice being able to look up online on forums how to fix stuff when broke out in the middle of the woods.

I like the RTT's however it seems like a pain to have to break down camp evrey night and are you guys worried about ripping that thing off the truck while wheeling? Where we wheel there's a lot of stuff over hanging the trails and it would suck to damage the tent on the first day of a week long trip.

I've gone through plenty of branches and there isn't a mark on the cover. As for breaking down each day it can be a pain yes but the tent itself takes about 5 minutes to fold up and put the cover on so it isn't bad.

I don't have the money for an RTT at this point but I wanted some opinions on the Tepui awning and awning extension. Would it be viable to sleep in the extension? I know it is large enough but does anybody have any experience with it in rainy or windy conditions?

Pretty sure the insulation isn't adequate and it'll get cold

    CVT Mt. Shasta.

The anti-condensation mat...It goes under the mattress, right? I got one with my Mt. Shasta, it is not quite as wide as the mattress, so should it be to one side or centered?

Why did the tent also come with a small piece of the anti-condensation mat material? Is it a sample?

Sorry if these are dumb questions....

you have to cut the mat in half and then rotate the two pieces 90* to fit under each half of the tent, then it will be the correct dimensions. at least that's how it worked when i got mine last year - take a couple measurements to double check before you start hacking into things. and the little piece is to put under the ladder if/when you're using the annex so the ladder doesn't poke through the annex floor.

Do you think it would be ok for summer camping? I wouldn't do any cold weather camping until I have an RTT.

the mat is 48" wide, so is the Bailey. So you can use it as one piece. But the Bachelors and Shastas are wider than the mat is available in so we have to cut the 48" wide mat into 2 pieces to cover the width of the tents.

:humble: I just pay attention - most of this has been asked before, don't expect you to run through almost 200 pages to find the answer! For CVT specific questions you might want to check out this thread too.

you mean on the Runner? I haven't mounted it yet - should be going on this week. And no, I won't fit in my garage :( I ended up just getting a Thule rack for now. Just couldn't bring myself to spend almost a grand at a full rack replacement.

I've seen people sleep in the awning extensions no problem. If it's used with an awning so it can attach to the awning it is quite stable and should be fine in the wind/rain. As for insulation.....it is more insulated than just about every inexpensive ground tent, and uses the same canvas as the standard tents.

    Have you considered these...http://www.armortechoffroad.com/2005--2013-Tacoma-15-Rise-Bed-Cross-Bar_p_349.html
It's hard to tell from those photos if a Softopper rail would fit outside of them but they might make it. If so, then they would allow you to mount the RTT under the Softopper and still have about 19" of clearance underneath for storage.
They also have a flush mount...http://www.armortechoffroad.com/2005-2013-Tacoma-Flush-Bed-Cross-Bar_p_348.html

Has anybody come up with a good way to mark the tent so if it is ever stolen, you could identify it?

Or engrave your name/number into one of the bars.
