As the title says, what is the dumbest problem you have ever had with your truck?

I had a really dumb problem this morning with my truck that made me laugh. With the window down I could hear this clicking sound coming from the front drivers side wheel it sounded like I had tape stuck on my tire. I looked around three different times trying to figure it out with no luck. Finally I figured it out. I got new wheels installed a couple weeks ago and they all had bar code stickers on the inside. Well the one on the driver side started to peel up and was hitting the caliper. I felt so dumb for not figuring it out sooner.

This is more of a new problem I created for myself. Was replacing my windshield wipers last week when while taking care of the passenger side the wiper arm slipped off my hands and then hit the glass... So now I need to get a new windshield for my truck.....dumbest thing I've ever done.

I'm sure many other members have had this experience. I loaded a long couch into my bed so I had to leave the tailgate down. When I went to back up I saw the back up camera was all messed up and I assumed we had broken it during loading. I got out, went to go look at the camera and then realized I was retarded.

I once struggled to get a caliper bolt loose on a Subaru. Had about 5 feet of pipe on the thing and every bit of force I could come up with and heard a snap. Broke the bolt. Realized I was tightening the thing the whole time. Definitely felt stupid there, but a new bolt only cost me a few bucks so at least it wasn't an expensive mistake. And I now know how tough a grade 7 bolt is!

Not a problem with the truck but me. Just got home from work with a mouth full of sunflower seeds and a good song on. Figured id finish the seeds and the song and relax for a minute before getting attacked by my kids. Turns out I wasn't in neutral and slowly backed into my new garage door! Didn't even realize I was moving until I heard the crunch.

Wasn't on my Tacoma but my Cherokee. Spent close to 4 hrs trying to remove the top bolts from my transmission. After throwing my socket wrench through the drywall laying on my back under it I looked up and realized I should remove the cross member. 15 min later trany was out. In the same jeep I sank it up to the headlights and got stuck. Wasn't thinking and opend the door. Ended up with a foot of muddy water inside and warped my fuse panel. No more carpet for that rig!

I had a high-pitched metallic rattle behind the tachometer. I was afraid it was somehow related to my new front coilovers and uca. Took it to the dealer. They figured out that it was a D-ring on my Prinsu rack. It vibrated and somehow the sound traveled down the A-pillar and came out behind the dash. They taped it down...problem solved.

These are pretty good! The day I bought my '07 my buddy and I drove it up to find some remnants of snow. Found a bit to play in, got high centered on a drift and starting spinning tires. Decided to lock into 4wd, try to back up, sink further. Time for low, flip the switch, my low light starts blinking and beeping at me, figuring were all locked up, we complain to each other about that awful beep, and how we're gonna have to disable it. We rocked, and dug, and rocked, dug some more, finally broke it loose (about two hours of digging out with two skateboard decks cause that's all that was in the bed of my new truck so far.) well once on dry pavement we realized I wasn't driving in low range. Get home, call the dealer, bitch them out cause my 4x4 is broken, they say bring it back in (60 miles away, they were a Nissan dealer) I get in the truck to take it down and decide to read the manual for the 4x4... Then I read the line that says put the clutch all the way to the floor, and voila 4x4 low! Called the dealer an apologized, we got a laugh out of it when it was all over... But I felt like an ass to say the least!

I had a similar instance with the clutch pedal. When I bought my '15, I put a couple folded rag rugs on the front floorboards until my Weathertech's came in. Occasionally the truck wouldn't crank, and the only way around it was to use the clutch start cancel button. Took me a few times before I realized the rugs were too thick to allow me to engage the safety switch on the clutch, which I wasn't aware of at the time.

You're definitely not the only one to do that. By far the dumbest thing I ever did working on my tacoma was when I was installing my CB antenna using a hood hinge bracket. I had painted it and wasn't getting a good ground from the antenna to the mount so i got out the dremel tool to clean the paint off. Well like an idiot I slipped and put a nice 1" long gouge in the paint on the corner of my hood on a truck I'd had for about 2 months. Needless to say I was pissed! Luckily I spent a few hours with some touchup paint and sandpaper and now the only person that ever notices it is me.

My other bonehead move was back when I worked up at the ski hill. The parking lot had RV hookups and it had been snowing all weekend. Well I realized I was parked next to one when I went to turn right out of my space and heard a loud crunch. I freaked out and went to investigate thinking I forgot to left my skis or boots or something on the ground and drove over it. It turned out the hookup box on a 3ft tall post had been buried in the snow drift and when I turned into it I put a huge dent in my passenger rear door. By huge I mean the entire bottom 12 inches of the door was one big dent, cracked paint and all. I touched up the paint to keep it from rusting and drove around with it for a few years until I found a deal on a door in the same color at a junk yard. I bolted it up and now no one can tell the difference. The worst part of fixing that one was that the door was almost the same cost as a pair of rock sliders which would have protected the panel in the first place.

After installing my front suspension, I had a clunk sound..it was rotational, sped up with higher speed. I was VERY CAREFUL to torque everything down during install, so I was stumped and ready to call dealer. I didn't think I could be so dumb as to forget to tighten the lug nuts, but I was wrong. What can I say...I'm a rookie.

I was driving along one day and heard an awful clicking and had no idea what it was, pulled over opened the hood but couldnt hear anything because it had stopped, said oh well and continued driving, kept clicking, got home and it stopped, I was losing my mind trying to find out what it was.... Well needless to say I lived in kansas at the time and the wind had blown a chip bad into one of the holes in my rim on my passenger side, felt like such a idiot after that

I woke up one day and my 4runner wouldn't turn over. I knew the battery was on the outs so I just assumed it was completely dead and went and bought a new one. I got home, installed it and still nothing. I assumed it was a battery cable or starter issue. I had no time to fix then so I rented a car to use and let my truck sit until the weekend. Two days passed before I realized that my 4runner had a security switch that needed to be flipped under the dash after the battery is disconnected. I got home flipped it a couple of times and it fired right up. It only cost me $100 to realize I had to flip a switch to get my truck running.

Dumbest thing that I have ever done was tear apart my passenger side door because the window wouldn't go up. I had just installed new speakers so I thoughy I didn't connect the switch back up right. So after making sure the connection was good I still couldn't roll the window up. Turns out one of my friends pushed the window lock button and I didn't notice. I spent about an hour trying to figure out the problem

I once bought a Nissan Juke...

More seriously I was working on my Tacoma a few weeks ago trying to get rid of the whistling from my light bar. I ended up putting some heavy duty weather striping between the bar and the window, and viola, the noise was gone. Thinking I'm a genius I write up my fix and go for a drive. Half way to town I try to clean some bugs off the window. Turns out the weatherstriping was too low and I jammed my wipers against it . I ended up rolling into town that way, wipers up. Luckily it didn't wreck the wipers or weatherstripping and I was able to adjust it so the wipers could clear.

I also once left a socket in that little plastic tray under the hood right by where the hinge is for a good year. I thought I had all my tools out and that sucker stayed there until I found it when I installed my hood struts.

    This isn't Tacoma related but....
We had some rain last week and an office had some water damage so I had to move the HR's computer into the conference room. This morning I came in and moved everything back and she was complaining her emails weren't going through. I spent a good 15 minutes checking the ethernet line until I realized I didn't switch the patch cable that goes from the router to the server in the equipment room.:der:
