Regardless of what others are saying I think it looks good. Even more important is the quality of the job you did, excellent work!
I have noticed that so many people only like what you do when it is what they did....... Just saying.
    Good job!

It was an STI Forester lowered with OEM STI Impreza suspension , which lowered it 2.5" . I then added the wheels and the carbon hood scoop and that's pretty much it . It was fun to slam on the gas from a stop and that thing rocket away .

That's why I did it....different and functional

I couldn't agree with you more . I actually mentioned in a conversation that most people like the "cookie cutter mods" that everyone has , whereas , I like to take a little different path .

Functional is not how I would describe it. There will be very little function with that mod. Face it... You did it because you like it and that is about it. If it "happens" to lower your under hood temp it will be negligible at best.

The only non functional items I have added are my white tail lights mod and I blacked out my emblems. I "personally" prefer a truck that IS functional and everything on my truck is.

Sure is... And like I said each mod I have done is "functional" with the exception of the color matched grill I forgot to mention. So... What's your point?

My point is that your idea of functional and others ideas are obviously not the same . Just like you mentioned , a lot of the mods you did on your vehicle are "want" mods :

16x9 KMC XD Enduro (Matte Black) Wheels
    Fierce MT Tires
Shortened Factory Radio Antenna to 14"
    5900K Halogen Headlights
LED Turn Signals and DTRL / Turns
BlendMount Escort Radar Detector Rear View Mirror Mount
    Escort S3 Radar Detector
    Tailgate Lock Mod
Thinkware X300 Full HD Dashboard Camera with 3.5" LCD Touchscreen Viewfinder & Dual Save Technology

These are obviously mods that you did to make the vehicle better in your eyes but not necessarily things that others would think make it better . If this is your idea of functional mods then every mod out there is functional in one way or another . You upgraded your headlights but a lot of people don't like anything other than OEM due to brightness or other reasons . You installed a radar detector , which I have never owned one in my life and I don't worry about cops and had only a couple tickets in 24 years of driving . You didn't install new wheels and tires to ensure the safety of yourself and all people riding in your truck . You did it because it looks better . Do you see where i'm going with this ? You even said that my hood may drop under hood temps by only a few degrees , so I guess that means that it does serve some little bit of function.....making it a functional hood . I think we can all agree that not everyone is going to like the things you do to your vehicle as much as yourself .

I could go line by line of the mods listed but it wouldn't serve a purpose. Wheels and tires (while look good) serve a purpose over the factory wheels and tires to allow me to go places I couldn't have reached as easily. Lights serve a purpose as to allow better lighting at night. You see where I'm going with this? While I don't expect (nor want) people to follow my direction I clearly listed mods that have no useful purpose In my truck (tail lights, grill, emblems etc...). To say the hood on your truck is truely "useful".... Well we'll just agree to disagree.

The term useful is loosely defined and in layman's terms means that it is of some sort of "use". While you sit here and show us that the extent of your usefulness is being a dick, I can tell you that even if his hood only lowers the engine bay temps by 1 degree, it has a use, not to mention his use for it was to make the truck more aesthetically pleasing to him.

Lol... I personally don't care about his hood or usefulness. As I mentioned earlier in the thread if he likes it cool. It's his truck. I "personally" don't like it and (other than looks) I don't see any other use. I also mentioned that there are people that don't like certain things that I have done to my truck. Simple as that. So call me a dick if you like. Not really concerned.

this actually looks good, i think itd look better if it were about an inch lower and not so square to match the rest of the truck, but nice work

although it does kinda make your truck kinda look like it has a big nose on its hood.

Well at least some people get it

    Absolutely amazing

I was told in an earlier post that maybe the heat here in El Paso has affected the way I think because of my choice in hood . By the looks of your signature , i'm guessing you are either a volunteer firefighter , actual firefighter or retired firefighter . While I appreciate all that you do for your community , maybe the heat has actually taken it's toll on your thinking .

    thank you

I agree about the inch lower comment but I think it would take a lot to change it so i'm going to leave it for now . If I ever get annoyed by it , I will have my friend start changing it .

Actually like the hood scoop. It begs for a Chevy LS engine though. Maybe a Z06 LS7 from a 2006-2013 Corvette. I can hear the exhaust now!

Great job no matter what the haters say.

Funny you mention this.....I thought if I hadn't bought the TRD PRO and went with a regular Tacoma , I would have done a swap for some monster power

An LS7 would be a beast in this truck

Noticing a trend on TW, if you voice your opinion, and people don't like it, all of a sudden you're under attack!
Seems like a new thing, if they don't like your opinion they try to ridicule you or start with the personal attacks!
Don't forget there is a Ignore feature here, use it if you don't like someone!

My opinion, sorry OP, just a little too much, but if you like it, that's all that really counts!

Par for the course brother. I've been here long enough to see it all. I stated my "opinion" of why I "personally" don't find it useful (along with useless features of my truck mind you) or appealing to "me". If the OP likes it great! It's his truck and that's all that matters. Others stated in my thread about my white tail lights (which serve no use other than "I" think they look cool). Some like them some don't I don't take it personally. This thread just broke down into semantics over silly things so it's all good.
