Had a Warn and a smittybuilt. HAD. Didn't learn my lesson the first time leaving it in the receiver and both got stolen. Smittybuilt worked the same as the Warn, no issues w either. I don't leave anything in my receiver anymore and using a locking pin is a pain trying to remember where I left the keys and had one with a bad lock cylinder I had to cut off.

Wait so someone who would like to take your hitch shackle without having any tools is honest? I get what your saying but it would be better to just take it off

not me, one of the quality custom sticker vendors here on TW. replaced my badges all around with black matte vinyl, nice clean lines, I like it. Cheap too, I think $20 for the lot of em. TW member Ghost I believe.

Buried the truck to the frame in some gumbo mud and used mine to help get me out. At first hooked 3 atv's and a recovery strap to it and got several hard pulls, then hooked up 2 come alongs to it. Fit nicely in the receiver and worked as it was supposed to. Glad I had it.

Why couldn't I just loop a strap around my ball hitch? Wouldn't that work for minor recoveries?

you should never ever use a ball hitch for recovery due to the risk of them breaking and flying off.
