Bought Taco completely stock on 7/25/09. Making the adjustment from my previous truck a 04 Dodge Ram HEMI quad cab 4x4.
So I'm cruzin down some country road at about 65 and about 200 yards in front of me is a car passing some road kill that a bunch of vultures are eating. That car spooks them off so I'm thinking no problem.....WRONG!

About the time I get there one of these giant stupid birds does a flying U-Turn and flies right in front of my taco! BAMMM!!!

The up side, I totally felt him go under the tires. The down side, he took out my driver headlight.

From the outside everything looks ok. But when you lift the hood, anywhere that light assembly bolts to something the plastic of the light assembly is completely gone! There's so much plastic missing from the back of the its not funny.

So, now I'm faced with the question of what to do to fix it. I could buy two aftermarket headlight assemblies but I'm not sure the cost for something I would like. OR, find a replacement of which appears to be similar in cost as TWO aftermarket assemblies.

What do you all think I should do? Keep in mind I'm saving at the moment for a new bike so I'd like to do the cheaper fix but I don't want anything I'd regret.

Sorry no pics of the damage, my wife took our camera on a trip so I've got nothing to take a pic with. But here's one of the pieces of crap I hit!

If you live in Georgia and have a 05-09 driver side headlight you'd like to sell, let me know...I'm interested!

He could have a high dedutable or only collision! It is covered under comprehensive (Spelling) but depends on how much damage there really is, could be more then just the light damaged. Id sugest getting an assesment done. hopefuly for free before you get INS involved!

Average deductable is 500$ or so, lamps will cost less than that, no point in even opening up a claim. Unless you want your rates to go up, I suppose.

Check on eBay, you should be able to get a single OEM replacement at a good price. Just for reference the headlight assembly (without components) is about $170.

That place is only about an hour and a half from me.

Am I reading the catalog right that the headlight assembly is about $67? I'm not sure that's the right part or not?

I think that's right. Up here in Boston it's a little cheaper I guess.

    Shop price = $50
    List price = $65
TYTC59D2 for the left headlight. I assume headlamp is the same thing as headlight, am I right?

Hey if you do go, can you do me a favor and look at the black grille? I don't like the chrome grille and was thinking about getting the black one. I just wanted to know if it's the same thing that comes on the Black Sand Pearl sports edition. The grille cost either $45 or $60 which is a real bargain!

I'm in the same shoes too, just bought a new pair of headlight assemblies for $174.00 and they were already blacked out inside. I picked them up from www.car-stuff.com, not sure about the quality yet but we will find out soon.

They also have new headlights for $70ish plus shipping. I would post pics, but their website is down for maintenance is says.

Hey Bud! Sorry to hear about your run in with the buzzard! Sounds like you're pointed in the right direction for replacement parts!
A lot of guys I know have bought some of the pre-blacked out ones off ebay with no problems at all (no leaks, good fitment, and cheap costs) but if you are going the oem look I totally understand- I'm keeping mine clear for a while myself.
