4runner seats would be bad ass. Hell of a writeup for tw! And I agree the limited model is not limited without power seats. My next vehicle (possibly this one depending on the engine life) will have air conditioned seats.

The 2016 Tacoma has grown on me and I am going to buy one when they are available, I like all the "Comfort Creatures" the new ones are going to have (Climate Control, Sun Roof to name two). I like the Limited. If I really don't like the 2016 once I see it then I will pick up a "slightly experienced" 2015...

My Frontier had a Sun Roof and I always had it open and a Rogue I was driving for a while had Climate Control and I loved it.

Worst thing I ever did was sell my 2000 Tacoma, it was a Access cab 2 wheel drive 4 banger but it was a great truck and when I put chains and Michelin Snow Tires on it in the winter it went anywhere...

The 2016 Tacoma looks nice. I'm sure in a few years it will grow on everyone. But it really looks like a Gen2.5 to me.

Glad I just got a 2015. Doesn't mean I won't trade up some day. But I like having the last year of a proven truck that I know I could love for a while (my 3rd 2nd gen)

I look forward to seeing the next generation on the road.

I saw the lack of power seats also...but I wouldn't necessarily consider that a final thing.

Toyota could easily put different seats in it just to throw us off. Anything is possible.

If people are bitchin' about that now (on this forum)... The general public will have the same complaints when they find out the Limited version doesn't have power seats. That's my theory anyway....
That'd be a nightmare for Toyota to have that many people complaining

It's still a preproduction vehicle so let's hope they put in power seats and heated mirrors would be nice too.

For what it is worth, the inclusion of powered seats would PREVENT me from buying a particular model level.

I find the wait for power seats to move from my wife's full forward position, to my full rearward position, interminable. It is so fast and easy to pull up on a lever and slide the seat forward or rearward. I really don't get the attraction of powered seats.

Exactly, it's a silly lazy kind of thing.

Also, the extra weight isn't worth any minor benefit imho (especially considering the downside you mention). Didn't one of the Toyota reps say in an interview they wouldn't have power seats because of the extra weight?

Weight and r&d, similar to if there was a "budget" for the redesign... i.e. you get climate control or power seats, pick one. How much weight does the motor really add? Is it any more than the window motor? The weight argument seems silly to me.

    I understand.
But a good power seat setup is more than forward and back.
But, it's just another gizmo. I've had it. It's not that big of a deal. My F150 and my Vette had the exit feature. It can take a while and get a little annoying.

I don't think that's correct, we've seen pics of thee sport w/ the sunroof. I believe what
you can't get on the Limited is the scoop.

I had not mentioned the weight issue with regard to powered seats, but I agree with jonny that, if you don't care for powered seats in the first place, the added weight is nothing but a performance and efficiency penalty.

And I understand that a good power seat does more than move fore and aft. Our RAV4 Limited (bought used) has a powered seat, and it moves in more ways than I could have imagined. But I imagine that each of those movements requires its own motor. To my thinking, since I actually prefer to NOT have a powered seat, its like always carrying several bricks under the seat of the car. For me, it's silly and wasteful.

The extra weight of the power seats? So...if you remove the power seats, you'll suddenly gain all this horsepower and gas mileage?

Let's remove power windows... remove navigation....remove everything else that was designed prior to the 1960's - and you might have enough weight loss to give you a nice amount of horsepower & gas mileage again.

    Sorry...had to say it. ;)

    Thanks Dr. Slippery Slope.

No, I wouldn't advocate removing useful tech. But I can easily reach between my crotch and twist a knob to save 60lbs. Are you too lazy? No, it isn't extra horsepower, but weight savings and cost add up fast. I might use power windows everyday (x,000 times) but power seats like...four times. Set and forget versus continual use.

Point being, cost and weight tradeoff per amount of use. I don't vote spending the extra cash for power seats of given good manual adjustments.

Power seats are pretty much standard in all vehicles today that are in the same category (class) as the Tacoma.

Anyone remember the days when a AM/FM Radio was an option you had to order and pay for...

Pretty soon Power Seats will be standard in all vehicles, and with the minute adjustments you can make with Power Seats (esp. while on long drives) I am personally OK with them...

Why so much talk about power seats? This is a Tacoma not a Lexus we are talking about here.

Power seats are one of life's little pleasures, especially if it expands the range of adjustments for large body types like myself.

That said, I don't own a Tacoma, but I was born there. I'm looking for a 2016 Access Cab 4x4 with leather seats. What package should I be looking at? Thanks.

I just spent a large chunk on my '92 Ranger to get the AC working again and I wish the 2016 was out now. It's the only mid-size I've been in that I can sit comfortably in. The Colorado has power seats but doesn't lower the front bolster. The new Frontier is a 2016, not out, and the Ford dealer floor manager said the Ranger is coming back in 2017. Big whoop. So I think it'll be a Tacoma. My friend has a 2008 and it quiet, comfy, and tall (Pre-Runner, 4.0L V6). I like the Access Cab with a long bed.

    First, welcome to TW!

Depends on your region. In Texas (Gulf States Region) you normally can get that in an SR5, TRD Sport or TRD Pro because they can add leather through regional distribution (between factory and dealership). It's where they make the various packages. Of course the Limited has soft-tex seats, but that is as much leather as Taco Bell is legitimate Mexican food.

Things might change a little bit for the 2016. Again, we'll see once they populate the ordering system.
