15x8 Wheels that fit now?

I realize u weren't comparing sizes I was just using that as a way to try and explain myself. Your quote above, this is what we were trying to explain. When keeping the same ride height wheel size changes nothing, besides a different size hole in the tire. A 31" tire with a 16" wheel will have the exact same height as a 31" tire with a 15" wheel. Nothing changes especially gearing. The 31/15 will not set lower because of the wheel being smaller. I think the metric sizing system is causing this confusion.

This quote is why I mentioned comparing tires. You punched in two totaly different size tires and then "I'm guessing" figured the difference in height was due to the 15" vrs 16" wheel? Even though one would think its the same size tire beings the numbers are almost the same, but its not. Again I believe the metric sizing is where the confusion is coming from here!

Also up at the top of the thread u mentioned using a smaller wheel along with smaller tires to change ride height. If the size was available u could get away with just running a smaller tire that would fit on a 16" wheel. It would be the same ride height as using the same size tire with a 15" wheel. Again the wheel will only change ride height if there is no tire...driving only on the wheels.

OP to answer you're question I have 15x8 MT classic IIIs that clear the calipers, but when new weights are put on they rub the weights and they run down affecting the balance. Love the look with a 33x12.5 tire but I might be switching to a bigger rim soon if I can't figure out the balancing issue. Anyone know the trick to this??

 

Are they using stick on weights ? I have clip on weights and I don't have any problem

 

Yeah they are stick on. I was thinking about asking them for those but they would look TERRIIBLE on the outside of my rim. There's so many now. Can they go on the inside lip?

I'm not sure what options I have aside from the Side Biter MT's

I'd take a gamble on steelies, but it seems most are stamped for their holes, and the stampings protrude on the caliper side, scraping hte hell out of them. I dont want to lose my lunch on a gamble.

I've considered wheelers, but I'm not on the Best Coast anymore (mid atlantic now), so shipping will kill me. (guesstimate from wheelers was over 140 for 4). Plus I really dont like the look. I wish they were the D hole style. :/

If you had OEM 15" to begin with then the 15" stamped steel with fit over the calipers, but may scrape the sides of them. You will need at minimum the little cheap-o 1/4" spacers from almost any parts house in the US. This will be enough to clear the calipers. This is what I did to my '99 and it is fine. I did change out the front lug studs to some longer ones: rear '03 Matrix. Same knurl and same thread pitch, just a longer shoulder that isn't an issue when bolted up anyway. If you've noticed the amount of threads swallowed by your front nuts and counted threads, there aren't that many compared to the rear.

Do what you want. But if you go with steelies, get them from somewhere besides Wheelers. Summit and Jegs have free shipping. I got mine already mounted and balanced, shipped to my garage door for right at $1000. 15x8 Soft8 style in a set of 33/1050-15 BFG KM2s from DiscountTire&Wheel online. I sprung for their 'whatever' warranty and I'm glad I did. One had a side lug with a crack as it started to separate some. I called them, emailed a pic, and in less than three days I had a new tire on my porch. I dropped the spare and tossed it in the back. I went to the tire shop and had them put the new one on the steelie and put the splitting one on the spare.

I wish I had gotten some 'D slots' instead, though.
