Advice on how to kill mice that are eating wires.

Does anyone have some pointers on how to kill rodents. Rodents have chewed through four spark plug wires on two different cars and I am starting to get pissed. I am trying to sell both of these cars so I can buy a Tacoma. It seems like just about every day that I go out the stupid bast*rds have chewed threw another wire.

I have two dogs and a cat so I don't really want to use poison. I have 8 snappy traps set up under the cars, but they don't seem to be catching the mice. Has anyone had luck with any particular products out there. Are there any mice deterrent sprays that I can buy to spray on the chewable engine wires?

What bait are you using on the traps? I tell you what works wonders is cheese with peanut butter put on it. I had a bad rat problem. I caught 5 of the fuckers in a week. Worked great.

 

park on a tarp and then bungie tie it up around the roof of your car

 

+1 on the peanut butter. I used to use reeces PB cups and it worked like a charm.

I just baited the traps with peanut butter. I didn't have any bait on them before because I thought they were the pre-baited cheese smelling ones. Clearly they were not pre-baited as I didn't catch a thing. I think I have a crap ton of mice around my house as I already caught about 10 in live traps earlier in the summer.

I was gonna say if his cats an outdoor cat, it needs to be fired for not getting the job done..

Can you maybe park the truck somewhere else, like in the street? Perhaps where you park it is close to where all the mice are.

 

I have found that if you take an old sock and put some mothballs in it and secure it to something under the hood it works well to keep rodents away from your vehicles. Just be sure to secure it where it won't contact any moving parts or hot objects, usually on an inner fender is good.

nope... my cat is indoor only. If he were outdoor I would smack him around a bit for not doing his job. He does a fine job killing mice in the house, but he doesn't go outdoors so he doesn't become a snack himself. I live in Mtn Lion, coyote, and bear country. The cat is very fat and I am sure a wild animal would think he was delicious.

 

leave the car running overnight. 30,000 volts ought to do it. besides chris4x4 would give it a big thumbs up.

 

I'll tell ya how we killed a raccoon when i was in college. We got in trouble for shooting guns in city limits so we rigged up an shock trap.

50 ft extension cord with the end cut off. metal rack from the oven. old TV dinner try with scraps on it and a hot dog no bun...attached one of the wires of the cut cord to the oven rack, stripped about 4 inches of the other wire and inserted it all the way through the hot dog....Placed hot dog on the pile of scraps and placed the tv dinner tray on the rack and placed the rack on my back deck. rigged up an inline light bulb for a visual aid. Raccoon came down stepped on the rack...Bit into the hot dog. Light flickered for a sec or two...lol You get the idea...


It didnt kill it, but it made one hell of a noise and stunned it enough for me to get a shot at it with my bow...lol

peanut butter is the best bait. and to add to chris2WD, put one of their heads on a stick to show the others that death awaits those who enter

 

put the cat under the hood, it will still feel like he is inside and can get the mice.
