    Yup. I'd drive one, lol.
I'd probably try to figure out a way to drop a six-speed in there, though.

Prowler, My boss has the first one sold. I've driven it many times. They handle good but pretty slow, even after his tune and re-rearing.

Really? I see them quite often. Just saw a redneck woman driving one the other day. Extremely ugly car. Why would anybody in their right mind buy that 214 hp 4-speed auto trash over a 405 HP corvette C5 Z06? Just scrolled up to take another look and threw up in my mouth a little.....

Yup, way under powered, despite being pretty light. Best thing about them is the handling...

When the Prowler came out, I thought it was the coolest thing but I was about 10 years old give or take. 10 year old me probably wasn't the epitome of great taste. I thought Lori Petty was the most attractive woman in the world and that the Plymouth Prowler was the coolest car. I probably need to stop talking.

Because some people like that classic hot rod shape rather than the door wedge shape of a Corvette. The Prowler was never intended to be an ultra-high performance sports car; it was just designed to be a cool cruiser. It was based on the Chip Foose Hemisfear,
    [IMG]
which in turn was based on the old 30's Ford Roadsters that got hot-rodded up back in California in the 50's.

    Meanwhile, the 1999 Corvette
    [IMG]

Appears to have been modeled after this:

The Prowler came out 8 years before Foose made the Hemisfear...it started production in 1999, and Foose made the Hemisfear in 2007

He originally designed it and worked up a scale model long before he actually had time to produce a full-scale working car.

    http://www.chipfoose.com/ws_display.asp?filter=Hemisfear

"Hemisfear is the culmination of a 16 year personal dream for Chip. In 1990, during his senior year at the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, Chip and his classmates were presented with a Chrysler-sponsored graduation project. They were to design a vehicle for a niche market. Chip took a bit of a spin on the concept, he didn't want to design for an existing market, he wanted to create a new one.

With its unique flair, Chip's 1:5 scale model of the Hemisfear gained significant recognition and was even featured in an issue of HOT ROD magazine. It also became the inspiration for the Plymouth Prowler, as careful study of the two will show many design similarities"

Nope but a very good guess….

But this car did recently sell at an auto auction for around $500,000….
