Hey fellas, I'm motivated by getting a new frame and goodies installed due to frame rust recall to do my first mod on my 07 DCSB TRD OR. I received my 5100s in the mail today and after reading 1000s of posts in the past 3 weeks I've decided to set them at 1.75 instead of my original plan of 2.5, due to 50/50 opinions on ride quality, new UCAs, etc. however I did read about a 1/4 top plate spacer that will add about 1/2 in the front in addition to the 1.75 without having to worry about over compressing the springs, ride quality, or new UCAs. I'm thinking about going this route. Anyone running this setup? I've heard good things, just want some more input. BTW I should be getting the TSB leafs on rear with the frame swap and I'm running 265/75/16 BFG ATs. Thanks!

I am running my 5100's at .85 with a 1/2 top spacer on the driver side and a 1/4 spacer on the passenger side. The truck sits at 37 all around. I had them set at 2.5 and the ride up front was stiff. It wouldn't even brake dive when coming to a stop. Now at .85 with the spacers it rides nice.

I've got mine set @ .85" with the 1/4" spacer right now, and will have the same setup you're going for when my frame gets swapped ( I have a new set in the box set to 1.75"). The spacer won't compress the springs any more, it sits on top of the strut mount plate. I didn't notice any difference in ride quality once it was installed.

Do you still have any rake, or is it dead even?

Thanks for the replies. Is it common to run the spacer on just the drivers side or can they just as easily be ran on both sides for the added 1/2 height?

Also, I plan to get a toytec 1.5 AAL for the rear in the near future. FYI.

The 1/4" spacer is to correct the driver's side lean. Many people do run just the 1/4" on the driver's side.

Measure both sides of your truck to see if you even need it. Seeing that you have an '07, I would guess that you do.

Thanks fitz235, I did measure and my drivers side is slighter lower than pass. I was mainly considering the spacers as an added lift that wouldn't have the potential complications as the 2.5 setting on the billies. Would a 1/2 drivers spacer and 1/4 pass spacer make sense?

That should even things out height wise, I can't say one way or the other that it will be trouble free though. I'm sure someone will chime in that has that setup.

Just a head's up, if your going from stock to 1.75", there is a chance you may end up getting the diff. vibe. I have it now (a mild case), I'm having the dealer install the ECGS bushing when my truck goes in for the frame to correct it.

Another question....with getting the frame swap done, should i go ahead and install the 5100s myself at 1.75 with the 1/4 inch top plate spacers the day before i take my truck in for the frame swap to save toyota from charging me labor for aftermarket parts and because ill be getting an alignment done anyway? any thoughts?

No problem. The ECGS bushing replaces the factory needle bearing on the driver's side of the front differential where the CV axle enters it. This has been pinpointed as the weak link, and cause of the infamous front diff. vibration. Frequently experienced by guys that have lifted their Tacomas. Some have lifted with no issues, others with issues. Some guys have gotten it at stock height.

Here's a link to probably the biggest thread:

The vendor that sells/produces the bushing participates in this thread.

That's what I did. My dealer quoted me $300 to assemble the struts/coils (They are actually a great dealer, and usually high ball the estimate, and come in under). You can rent a spring compressor from an auto parts store to do it. They have to install a full assembly anyway, so if you bring them them the fully assembled shocks/coils, they shouldn't charge you for it. I would ask them before hand just to be sure.

I run a 2in single AAL that has settled just a bit and have right at 1.25in of rake.

One more head's up: If you do the assembly yourself, the spacer will sit on top of the strut mount plate. In other words, the dealer will place the spacer on top of the assembly when he installs them. They get sandwiched between the top of the strut mount plate, and the strut mount on the frame.

I have a feeling that I'm going to end up with an AAL too. I like having a little rake. I'll have to see what it looks like with the TSB springs.

    Thanks.

FYI i have "tsb springs" the 3+1 leaf pack so that number of 1.25 of rake is with the 2in single aal in addition with the 3+1 leaf pack.

Thanks again guys. I'm gonna order the 1/4" top plate spacers and have the whole assembly put together the day before I take it for the frame swap. I'll be ordering the toytec 1.5 AAL for the rear in the future. I don't mind a little front end rake.
