Cooper AT3 ?

    Welcome to most truck tires. Michelins are pretty much the softest compound tires, and really aren't an upgrade, they are just more geared toward city driving.

    bilstein set at 1.75, Racho 5000 rear with 4 leaf kit, floor mats, high lift jack, pull hook in hitch, bed rail corner braces, severe duty brake pads and devil horns on the grill....
    I think the term is highway driving vs city driving...I live way out in the country, on a gravel driveway, off a gravel road, and while the AT3 have given me good service in mixed conditions, they are now over half worn and interfering with the radio and cell phone calls at highway speed. It is not that I am not used to truck tires, I have COOP Grip Spur heavy lug tires on the M37, MudStar Radial M/T on the 68 Dodge, but very good BF Goodrich Rugged Terrains on the JK Sahara Jeep.

    The tires I had the very best overall experience were ribbed based universal use LT in the D rating...BF Goodrich had one like that we found that on a older vehicle, the vehcile would wear out before the tire...

    As my needs change, so do my tires...

    I hear ya, no sense in getting tires suited for something you won't need them for. The AT3 fits what I need, pretty quiet city driving, plus additional traction for off road use. I think most of the "noise" factor is mostly the lack of insulation in our trucks. They lack proper insulation from road noise, wind noise, etc. Toyota dropped the ball on that one. Hopefully the AT3's don't get too loud for me, but I just got them, so time will tell. I only go offroad 20% of the time, so the AT3 made the most sense for me, considering I had already had BFG AT's on my last truck. Hope those Michelins work out for ya.

    I will let you know...when I lived in North Texas, ribbed tires were quiet on the highway and good in th rain...
