Engine noise on 2015 Tacoma TRD

    My 2nd Gen. not 3rd... When I start up truck it makes this noise and Toyota says it is normal...any imput would be great thanks and sorry if posted 4 times... I did not have video clip before..and have no idea how to work this forum yet..

    OK.... This is my 4th time posting and I was informed by someone that my truck is not a 3rd Gen. I guess being human is bad? I made a mistake.. Can't figure out how to delete? swimmer, if you want to help me that would be great, sorry to have messed up!

    I certainly don't have that noise on startup with my 2015. It's an SR package and I have 1200 miles on it.

    Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
    That sucks man, that's the exact noise that my '13 Tacoma had that caused Toyota to buy it back. I lemon lawed it and I now have a '14 in replacement. I was told that there was a run of bad oil pumps that caused that, not sure that I buy it. I had a new oil pump and later a whole new short block and it actually got worse.

    My 2014 sounds like that too... No problems whatsoever at 13k on the ODO

    Can't say my '15 SR5 makes that noise. It does make the traditional Toyota clicking sound. But your noise sounds more metallic and louder.

    Just an FYI. The "Gen 3" trucks will be the 2016 models and newer. They won't be out until late 2015.

    Seeing as it only lasts 3 min. and only on first start up of the day I will buy a remote starter and fix this problem..love the truck hate that they ( Toyota) thinks that the noise is OK..
    Thanks for all the help and input...and harassing me about my to many posts...lol

    Burghier, I dealt with Bob Massey in Irwin. My '14 has that noise very faintly if you knew what to listen for. No one else would notice. Now my '14 has a howling rear differential that Toyota says is normal yet they had a TSB out for it from '08-'13.

    Loving the new truck ,but not the engine noise.. This is not my first Tacoma, but my first noisy Toyota.. Found the fix..TURN UP THE MUSIC! everyone have a great weekend!

    I will be taking it back to dealer one day this week.. They want to open up a NEW case log...others are also complaining....finally!
