What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

The calipers come unpainted and will rust within days. Also the Hawk pads they provide are terrible compared to anything by EBC.

 

That's what I was afraid of too. Pads and rotors are coming from EBC. Caliper are powder coated from Callahan.

 

Hey guys so I'm wanting to cut my sway bar off with my angle grinder just wanna make sure I'm cutting the right things since I'm new to the cutting scene..and I'm also wondering if there's any tension I need to watch out for when cutting it. I'm not even going to bother trying to take it off so I can put it on again I just want it gone haha






I'm thinking I'll want to cut both those mounts on both sides..?

 

Wish I knew this before I ordered the kit as it is on the truck and rusted all to hell. Not to mention it took the better part of 2+ weeks to get all the parts 1 state away.

 

Just detach it and call it a day, no reason to cut anything besides inviting rust to take over. And holy shit..... at least detach it before cutting if you are stuck on doing something stupid. If you are parked on a flat surface there isn't any tension but it is still risky and entirely unnecessary. Just be safe and reconsider cutting. Understand I'm not attacking you, I'm attempting to stop you from doing something you may regret. As your suspension softens you might find you want that sway bar back on.

 

From what you have told me in past discussions I'm just going to get the parts via separately rather than order from LCE

I cut here with my grinder, truck sitting on all fours. No issues at all. My bolts were seized. No need to grind the bracket on the LCA, just grind the bolt off if you are set on grinding it off.

but do try to unbolt it using tools first, if they are seized, hack away.

 

This LCE kit just includes the hard lines, brackets, clips, and SS hoses. The hoses are very nicely terminated and have a knurled metal collar.

 

Just unbolt/remove the sway bar. No need to cut the mounts off unless you're putting something else there.

 

I think the dead horse has been beaten but... you can unbolt the sway bar. No need to cut. If the bolt is seized like Ferny's was, just cut/gring the bolt off and then remove the bolt. Easy peasy.

 

sway bars are over rated anyway! I took mine off within the first 2 weeks of having the truck...Besides, It was in the way of the limit straps haha

I know you're not attacking me lol. I appreciate your opinion and concern. I just have a feeling there's going to be some seized bolts.

I'll give it a shot. Just thought it might be easiest to cut it and not have to deal with trying to free it.

I don't understand cutting the swaybar....Just unbolt the sucker. Coat seized bolts in PB Blaster. Impact gun. Long pipe. BFH. Did I mention just unbolt it?

 

I'm just anxious to cut something. Ha

 

Want to cut some stuff up with the grinder? Do a bed Bob haha! Had a few hours of grinding in that adventure.
