    That's why I just replaced mine... think they were the stock ones from '99 so figure OEM replacements should last me for a while... well worth the $100 a piece through camelback Toyota.

    Got the little bastards off huh? I may remove mine today, kinda wonder if the end links are the parts making clanking noises when I go over bumps. I think I'll cheat and use and impact gun and an impact allen attachment.

    Oh yeah thank god..easy peasy cuttin the bolts. Seems to handle rail road tracks a lot better now. DO IT!!! Haha take em off and you'll find out

    Hard to tell without feeling the buildup. If it is sorta greasy (possible leakage from LBJ) rather than just dry and gritty (just road grime).

    I know the feels, mine are 20 years old and I feel like I should change them because of their age. But on the other hand there are no cracks in the rubber and there is no vertical play in them.

    They're greasy, or at least the drivers side is. Haven't checked them for play. Might as well replace them both at the same time for peace of mind.

    Check the ball joint for play, once the grease starts leaking out it does become a ticking time bomb, that is why I prefer the Moog's because you can grease them. But to check play put a jack under the arm and lift the tire off the ground, take a long pry bar or something you can put under the tire to try and lift, if there is play in the ball joint replace it. If there is no play then you are ok for now, but with the grease leaking out it wont be ok for long
