Im soon going to be putting the emblems back onto my tailgate. I am going to get double sided tape at a local automotive supply store. I want to make sure i get the right tape. I Heard that with some tapes, the emblems will appear to have a "gap" between the paint and the emblem. I want it to look factory and sit right onto the tailgate with no visible gap. What specific tape do I need?

Just be aware even factory mounted there is a small gap behind the badges. Not huge and probably small enough to not be obviously "visible". Maybe a 1/16" or so.

So my tailgate is repainted and ready to go. The guy who painted it just called me and said I should really get new emblems from the factory because if he tries to re-stick my old ones, it is going to look like crap. He said it will be too hard to cut every single letter, and that theres no guarantee it will stick. What should I do?

If it were me, I'd go new. It would be hard to get the used ones to line up correctly.

Got some new badges at the dealer. Heres the finished product. Newly painted tailgate, and new color matched bumper on my offroad.
