So I'll take that as a no. Jesus. Not a lot of work time.

Yeah, but just physically getting that much material and layers in a compound curve to play nice within the quick set time of Titebond III as you clamp it up...I used that (actually it's all I use so far) on my garden gate, which was all square and flat, and even after doing a few dry runs for clamp up method and sequence, it was a challenge to stop any shifting and re-square and clamp before it started setting....sheesh. That was exterior, so I needed to use III.

But I'm just a hack amateur.

...I think the open time for titebond 3 is roughly 12 minutes... there's another product called titebond extend, which I think is at least a few minutes longer open time... an alternative to the yellow glues, ..I think some of the epoxy kits out there give much longer open times...

Yeah, if I were doing interior work, I would choose something far more benign...and forgiving of my so-called skills.:anonymous:

I have everything in place , clamps all laid out etc , the strips were stacked and I apply glue on them with a 2" roller , flip it onto the stack , roll the next one , there are 8 laminations , then clamp the top into the form and work my way down , one clamp per block location

Didn't seem like there was any starved joints , I'll know for sure when I take it out of the clamps

Colour and grain match in appearance and generally look pretty good even though the kerf is missing because of the rips , all the pieces come out of the same piece of wood and are sequential .

Nice. As long as it conditions the air, you win because you saved money by not having a conventional system.

@OZ-T Anxiously awaiting news of how your lamination went.. how long did it take you? I guess in 24 hours we'll hear your initial thoughts on how successful it was?

Success , just have to remove the excess glue lines and hand plane the top a bit

Which lead to the marathon sharpening session

    Full disclosure ~

There was 3 spots where the outside lamination suffered from either a starved joint or the stack wasn't totally tight when I clamped it , I'm pretty sure it was the latter

Not a big deal though , the spots were only about 2" long and open maybe 1/32" and I was able to force some more glue in and re-clamp the trouble spots and all of them resulted in some squeeze out so I'm pretty confident that will be the end of that

Oh and for most efficient sharpening of plane knives you should progress from 200 grit to 1000 and then 4000 , not 200 , 4000 , 1000 and then have to redo it , lol
