Thanks it's no pelfreybilt but for what little I've got in it I can't complain at all.

I bet it feels good to have made it yourself though. Cost is huge too.

What made you decide to go with the spare on the passenger side Matt?

Just the standard design mainly. If you're gonna put a tire on the swing-gate, the passenger side is better for vision anyway. You do have to use your side views more with the tire there instead of the rear-view, but I scan all my mirrors constantly so it's not a big deal for me.

I'm curious if it obstructs less of the rear view on one side or the other?

I guess thats really user preference/view since the rear view pretty much views the whole top of the tailgate

I think the passenger side is better for vision. I think it's more likely to see something on the driver side since (unless you're on a 2+ lane road), the tire is just blocking the curb side.

Might be getting a bike sooner rather than later. Talking to a guy from my FD after covering another dude for a bit about his bike since he has a Ninja 300. Good comments and he mentioned wanting to upgrade to a 650 so I asked him if he would be willing to sell. Didn't ask him miles but the bike looks to be in good shape and I think he's had it for about a year, he was thinking about letting it go for 3K or so, which is a great deal.

Not the ABS version but not sure if that's a deal breaker or not for me. I will be a new rider so the ABS would definitely help but then again, I don't plan on taking this on the highway or anything for quite some time. Still, you can still get into bad braking situations on sub-45-55mph roads.

I just saw on the bike BS thread...sooooo :jellydance:

I did actually pick up all my gear yesterday when my GF and I were out shopping for her new apartment stuff. Happened to be close by to a Kawasaki dealer so figured I'd just buy my shit now.

Joe Rocket jacket, HJC CL-17 helmet, and EVS gloves. Now all I need is a motorcycle

Not sure when the guy from my firehouse is wanting to sell, but hopefully it's soon. What's your insurance and registration costs looking like BTW?

Really? All the reviews I was reading seemed really good for its $150 pricetag.

I was looking at the Icon Alliance Dark but the dealer I went to was out of size medium so I just got this since there didn't seem to be much difference, Icon did comewith a dark and clear visor though but w/e.

Yeah I realize that, but reviews are very positive. Polycarb shell and DOT/SNELL approved, I trust it more than a video of some Russians hitting another brand helmet with a pipe.

Obviously I'm pretty new to this world so I'm not trying to seem like a know-it-all, but I guess I'm just seeing nothing but good things for this helmet with its current version.

I will probably ante up for a little better helmet in a couple years if I don't die.

Definitely don't skimp on a helmet. I've got an icon that I've outgrown and a couple of Harley helmets. Not cheap but worth it.

I feel comfortable with this helmet.

    Watch at 1:10 and 2:23.

    Similar HJC.
