Come to think of it, what's the difference between 7544 CZ5AN and 7574 DZ5BN? :)

They can say "all new" since there are minor differences, even in the very VERY similar panels. I can understand the frustration though. When people hear "all new" they expect everything to be very different, not minor tweaks. I do like the smaller fender flares. I never looked into the new one too much because I knew I would be buying before it came out.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
If you do a facelift, and some interrio change this is not a new generation. Simple. Just because they added engine it does not make new Truck either.
Fundamental change is what makes a generation change.
Example Gen1 Tacoma vs Gen 2 Tacoma.
There is almost nothing from one truck to another. Maybe except seat buckle. If that.

I think the 4 bangers in the taco and the Colorado are underpowered for the vehicles. No links but it's what I've read online and on paper. It's very hard to get a Colorado V6 right now for good reason. I think the newly applied 3.5L will do just fine. I drove a 2015 F150 and was amazed at the 2.7L V6. I suspect electronics will help the 3.5 be more than the 4.0, even though my friends 2008 SR5 Prerunner 4x2 gets 23 mpg on most every tank and that's mostly city.

I think it's the SB vs LB. LB being auto-only :(

Well, but at least they will do V6 DCSB Off-Road with MT!!!! :bananadance:

How can you have crawl control with MT?

I don't think all configurations are shown there. According to that no 2wd trucks have manual transmissions and the sport manual transmission didn't mention long or short bed.
Who needs it? You have MT!
Toyota rep or whoever did say that "true offroaders" want a manual. Sounds like there will be an off road manual. Like sport mode, you just don't have it because you have the option to change the shift points on your own.

How exactly does crawl control work and why does the transmission matter?

If the new truck is 4" longer than Gen 2, and since the bed length hasn't changed, where did the extra length go? In the cab? In the front and rear overhang?

No one will know for sure until we get to do a side by side comparison but looks to me that it is all in the front nose section.

Crawl control is like off-road cruise control that lets you adjust the speed with a knob (up to 5 mph if I remember right). The system can be beneficial even if you are an experienced off-roader, because it can adjust each of the 4 wheel speeds independently (working together with A-Trac) to maintain a constant vehicle speed.

Crawl Control is offered on FJs, but is omitted if you opt for the manual transmission.

    Yep, front and rear overhang.

I don't think we know anything without knowing the dimensions. What ever the shape of the cab is, it could be taller with more room inside. Really, we have to wait and see.

I think the access door is identical, while the front door is different only in the crease direction:

Wishful thinking, same cab, but more than likely as you see in pictures the center console is slimmer, the seats are probably differently shaped/mounted to gain headroom, etc.

The center console likely recycles some parts from the current 4Runner / LC Prado. I like the handbrake... almost enough to offset the loss of the A-pillar grab handle.

    Seems unnecessarily hostile...

I said I didn't look into it much. Meaning I didn't really look into purchasing one. I still researched it, just not too much once I decided I would be buying before it came out.
