It has 4 tabs and bolted to the flatbed with a rubber backed cloth mat in between. I thought about getting a small rubber bushing for each corner but since that would leave the bottom of the tank unsupported would it put too much stress on that part? Also I think I could be stressing my frame slightly even though it's been rebuilt with thicker material. My tires stuff into the stainless panels on the flatbed.

I would search on pirate but he used some rubber bushings on the top and bottom of the tabs in double sheer so the tank was "floating" and that fixed the problem. The tank is probably flexing with the frame and you may have to build a subframe or maybe even secure it with some tank straps if your worried about pressure on the tabs with the tank full.

The frame will always flex, if it didn't it will crack. You actually want some flex in there.

Slander, you going to badlands this weekend? I am doing my shakedown run there, I'd like to meet up. I heard it from Mark - he said you mentioned badlands this weekend.

Yeah I understand the frame needs to flex. With just using bushings on the 4 corners you don't think there would be too much stress on the bottom panel of the cell? When I had the cell welded back together I noticed while looking in the tank that the filler on most of the welds didn't penetrate all the way through so we beefed up both long weld seams on the bottom.

Just run marginally bigger holes in the tank or smaller bolts in combination with rubber grommets so that the frame can move around some before binding the tank. Should be good to go.

    I get my grommets here:

I'm not so sure about those rear leafs, maybe for wheeling they'll be fine. Haha, wouldn't trust that shit on the road.

Hmm. I would be interested to see what that frame looks like under there, would be pretty easy to toss some rear steer on it with the springs like that.

I would not be worried since they are usually mounted in buggies with no floor under them, or at least minimal floor. If you are that worried i would mount it using the four tabs on grommets, cut the bottom out from under and put some gas tank straps under the tank itself. This way the tanks isolated from the frame and the bottom is still supported by the straps if you are concerned about the tank falling out. I probibly made that more complicated than it needs to be, but i tend to do that LOL.

Good, works amazingly well... Considering who built it ya know :luvya: It was a little harry on tall inclines though. But, once I get the winch line hooked up I can use it as a suck down on the axle.
