Ok ok.. I'll post pics today of the "Rattle Can Paint Job" but here's the info on the penetration oils I was talking about

"Machinist's Workshop" recently published information on various penetrating oils. The magazine reports they tested these products for "break out "torque" on rusted nuts and bolts. A subjective test was made of popular penetrating oils, with the unit of merit being the torque required to remove the nut from a "scientifically rusted" bolt. Average torque load to loosen nut:

No Oil used ........................516 foot pounds
    WD-40 ..................... ........238 foot pounds
    PB Blaster .........................214 foot pounds
    Liquid Wrench ......................127 foot pounds
    Kano Kroil .........................106 foot pounds
    ATF/Acetone mix...................... 53 foot pounds

The ATF/Acetone mix is a "home brew" mix of 50/50 automatic transmission fluid and acetone. Note this "home brew" released bolts better than anycommercial product in this one particular test.
Our local machinist group mixed up a batch, and we all now use it withequally good results. Note also that Liquid Wrench is almost as good asKroil for 20% of the price.ATF/Acetone mix is best, but you can also use ATF and lacquer thinner in a50/50 mix. ATF = Any type of Automatic Transmission Fluid.

This version of the story was in one of the Military Vehicle Club newsletters

BTW... THX to member "piercedtiger" for originally posting the penetrating oils comparison chart.

Guys I didn't abandonment the 1st gen's. Toyota put me in this spot. My problem started 3wks ago when the frame failed. Took it to Toyota, they confirmed it and told me they are having issues getting the new frames. The last batch took 9 months to get 5 frames. They have a line of Tacoma's in the lot waiting for frames. They put a RO in and said were looking between 9 to 12 months to get the frame. What's a guy to do?

That happened to me and I got another first gen in January. Passenger side was missing about 4 feet of frame and driver side leaf spring mount was pushing through. I just wanted a 5 speed with a j shift 4x4

Ehh I bought the kroil and wasn't impressed. To me it didn't loosen anything any better than pb blaster. I wouldn't spend the money on it again. The trick is multiple coats of penetrant over a few days before wrenching on it. And a good impact gun helps a lot.

New muffler installed last night. Didn't do a sound clip due to the fact that I was exhausted and wanted to sleep lol. But damn I love the sound when I drove it out of the garage XD

I swear by this mix. Has worked on everything I needed even on my 01 in the NE where rust is literally everywhere.

Well, I'm off to explore some of the Idaho panhandle today with a buddy. I think I'm gonna follow a similar route to @m3bassman and just see where I end up. Should be fun, there were thunderstorms over in that area last night so a little mud is to be expected too :D
