Rode in a Wrangler the first time a few weekends ago. Never quite "got it" before that but now I totally do. Now I want tube doors so I can air out my balls. It's wonderful

Tube doors are next on my list. After skids.

Not permanent. No midnight moon for you.
Not giving finding the right truck enough time?

Got AC for the balls. Works well.
Don't want tube doors, get enough dirt inside already. Although having @Scenekyd as a spotter is like being at an auction. He just nods one direction or another. May need a front cam

Nah I'm not entirely sold on a jeep. Test drove a v6 6 speed DCSB OR yesterday and the transmission was hell to shift smoothly. Now I know why everyone complains about them. My neighbor has a 4dr jeep unlimited Sahara and loves it. So gonna test drive one today and see what it's like.

I just need something capable off road, can hold 2 adults and 2 car seats, and can handle the ice and snow we get here from time to time.

I've owned so many types of vehicles in my life and by far my only two favorites were my Tacoma and my GTI. It's just time to give a jeep a chance

I had one. Don't have it anymore. They ride like shit, loud as shit, have no resale value, and unless it is strictly a wheeling ride are not worth it. IMO obviously. :D

What kind did you have? Tell me more.. I'm not sold on one. Just humoring the idea since I was not pleased with the v6 6 speed tacoma. I rode in my neighbors jeep unlimited and it rode very well and was quiet granted it was a hard top

Also, seeing as how my truck is lifted with MT tires, intake, and headers.. It's not quiet by any stretch of the imagination lol.

I had a 2004 Wrangler X. 6 cylinder, 5 speed. I added a 4" Pro Comp suspension lift and some extras. Picture below. If you use your truck, you will miss it, I promise. You hear people say, "Well, I've got a trailer". It's still not the same.

I'm sure the new ones ride better but then again they cost $30-40k now too. Mine cost $19k brand new. And I added maybe $3k to it.

I just went from fierce attitudes to Hankook Dynapros ATM's and it's a huge difference. I honestly thought my truck had cut off when I rolled to a stop right after getting them. Very quiet and they are LT's, so the 6 ply's probably run even smoother.

Yea haven't really used the bed much at all. The 4cyl isn't capable of hauling anything too big in the mountains or it's just hell to get up my driveway. 6 railroad cross ties and I nearly didn't make it up my driveway.

What about a 4Runner? They'd hold a family and be good off road, plus they won't be plagued by the cancer of being Chrysler product.

No manual transmissions in them. I refuse to drive an automatic.. It severely limits me but I've always owned a manual and hated driving autos.. Call me crazy but it completely changes the driving experience.

Fair enough, I'm pretty much the same way. Perhaps a used FJ? They came with manuals yeah?

Get a wrangler! They are sick vehicles with more aftermarket options than probably anything! I had a 05 TJ for my first car and loved it till I had to drive it on the road, Lifted with a little 4cly isn't a good combo, my friend has newer 4 door with a hard top and I love it! but it is on 35s and can't hardly move and sways around the road and even with the hard top it whistles.... I was looking at them hard but the little more power the tacoma felt like it had and the better mpg it was an easy choice.
But get what ever you want! I don't think you are making a mistake buying one however I do think you will be back in a tacoma soon

Wife wouldn't go for an FJ cause it's not a 4 door. Bout the same size back seat as I have in the AC.

Tough decision to make, but currently the guy that was chomping at the bit to buy my truck is singing the cricket song. That at least means I have time to test drive some stuff and decide what I want to do.
