In the end I said I need some more time and info before I make my full decision. It took me until the 2010 before I really liked the 2nd gen. I explained to her that I've had 4 Tacoma's and my 15 is hands down my favorite and it is a fully polished 2nd gen.
I wouldn't trade my 15 for anything atbtgis point. I also asked questions around the diesel and what is Toyota doing to compete with Nissan and all the manufacturers that are gunning for the #1 spot in this class?
She couldn't give much info and took a lot of abuse from loyal fans. At least she had a sense of humor about the whole thing and knows that with another even like this, they need more info to feed the dogs

Those Four Wheel Campers are a bit much for the Tacoma, even with the correct springs...you're over max payload pretty quick. Really too bad we don't get the HiLux with its' 2000# payload. We have to buy a regular cab Tundra to get the 2000# payload.

so sad I missed my opportunity to go check out the new Taco.. I am reeeeally liking them. at first I was hesitant.. change ya know.. but man.. I like everything about them. especially the redesigned interior. already have mods planned out for it.. :spy:

I'm in this tough spot now.. keep my almost paid off truck that has a ton done to it.. or.. get a new clean slate of a tacoma that has everything i want/like (especially compared to the 2nd gens) and just leave it clean and simple since it has so many factory options i like.. plus ive just learned from my last few tacomas.. lol

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
Probably the LE plus if I had to guess. I have the S Plus I liked the interior color better and wanted a manual

Would you part out the current truck? Year and mileage? how much mod money do you expect to get back out of it? Also, would you really keep the 3rd Gen stock even when the aftermarket comes? what do you use the current one for, dd, offroad, etc?

I'm also conflicted. Keep putting money into this truck that I most likely won't get back and keep it forever or just cool it until I buy a new Tacoma in a few years? And then, have both or trade in??? Decisions decisions.

I can't speak for Josh, but I am going to try and sell mine as it sits initially. Hopefully to someone who lives far away so that I never have to see it in person again as I have poured way too much blood, sweat, and tears into it to see it every day. I would make an attempt to keep the 3rd gen as close to stock as possible with some tasteful differentiating mods just to set it apart a little bit. I have been scouring for engine specs (that obviously are not to be found) because I am looking largely for a truck with enough power to stay out of it's own way while getting decent mileage so that I can use it for a DD. I ultimately want to buy a car as well that is definitely not stock and where a lot of my play money goes.

    shotgun!!

you too huh.. sucks doesnt it. what we gonna do man?? :pout:

yup.. tough.. its my constant inner struggle and conversation to myself..

09 auto 4x4 O/R with 68k. And no idea.. depending on what and how much I could pull off of it.. 2-3k?

idk.. i would honestly prefer to sell it outright and see it go to another good home. an enthusiast who will take care of it and appreciate the work that went into it compared to ripping it apart and selling parts for more mod money.. or to trade it in. If I couldnt sell it outright.. i would most likely part out some of it.. and if that did happen.. i then have the question.. do i throw my suspension, light bar, etc on the new truck.. or sell it all for new parts and start fresh )the latter being the most important to me, want to do everything super clean and nice the first time around) as this leads to the other part of your question.. I dont go wheeling as much as I used to. The new one is going to be used for the occasional hunting/camping trip.. mostly housing stuff since we bought our first house.. maybe a small trail run. but it will be my DD. I would keep the interior stock this time around.. (stereo, interior panels, the factory leather seats, etc) just some weathertechs. exterior would be color matched (white of course) and im thinking if I dont swap the suspension.. or get C/O's.. i might just stick to OME again.. weld on sliders.. thats it. like i said.. keep it really simple and practical. an intake.. and thats it. no exhaust, muffler, headers, or anything this time around. a comfortable DD that is capable to hit the occasional trail and fire road for hunting.

We could swap your parts to mine and my stock '15 parts onto your truck, it would help it sell if it's not too modded...:D
    You do your flexplate yet?

    Gotta build that empire man!

No aftermarket options.. just OEM. About 250 for the flexplate.. Plus ATF.. plus time to do it.

Or 686 done by a shop including cost of part.

But I thought it was "all new" "not a single part carried over". Again anyone that thinks that statement was true I have some beachfront property in Arizona I'd like to sell you.

Ill probably be getting one once they come out. Not sure which model but I really like the looks. and the interior looks so much better than the Colorado's.
