I think the media has a lot to do with this. The struggling family trying to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their SUV makes a good story. A much less sensational story is why are you driving that giant gas guzzling SUV in the first place.

 

Thats a deal dude, 995000 is a real good deal for 1840 unless you dont have a garage. We looked at a condo on Kirkham and 48th (or maybe it was 47th) a few months ago and we were looking at 2k+ just to rent. Needless to say we decided to buy a house in San Jose instead.

You can buy a house in stockton now for around 50k, and thats not much farther that tracy!

Inflated prices go as far south as San Jose/Morgan Hill, as far north as Novato/Petaluma (Marin/Sonoma) and west into well, that depends where ya go.... we can say walnut creek. You just have to remember pay scale is way tilted in the bay to balance out the cost of living, also SF is expensive due to it's pro renter standing.... I looked at purchasing in the city and more often than not condo's were actualy TIC's that may take 5 years to flip to condo.
SF housing market is expensive due to supply and demand, small area and a-lot of people(and cars).

Thanks for the input Chris-and your testimonial goes right to my point on fuel costs-they are rising at a rate that only blows a budget and its all about GREED. Period. I DO NOT 'expect' cheap fuel as an "entitlement". I always worked for what I have-and hard too. Just keep checking the profit margin the oil guys enjoy as related to those prices. Then tell me it's a good balance for the greater good.

 

I think the number is 3BILLION dollars in PROFT A MONTH is what the major oil companies are pulling in!!!! How do they make record profits and say the price of petrol is not their fault! The Saudi's are correct, there is enough oil on the market! Oil companies like Shell, Chevron, Connoco/Phillips are gouging americans and manipulating oil futures in an attempt to force the public to allow more drilling in the US. They took note during the California energy crisis when energy companies slowed output to create a false shortage and now look, the PUC is planning to permit new power plants in Nor Cal.

IMO the oil companies are strong arming americans into permitting new oil drilling on the contenental US (and off shore) so they have the ability to control it, not like the volitile middle east or central america where their intrests could be confiscated by governments, remember IRAN? Where is the best place to drill, well your back yard silly!

How was that for a rant! Keep in mind Im a red blooded, meat eating, gun tote'in, Republican, not some enviromentalist or tree hugger or some sissy who thinks smokin pot and free hugs will create world peace. And this is all JMO!

 

Yeah Chris RANT on-republicans are gettin jacked in this ride too! It's No different than a corporate pecking order where the CEO reaps a perverted figure and the guys/gals you revere as 'bosses' are merely puppets in the total picture!

Glad to see some of us on the "Left Coast" are still "right" !!!

Saw $4.59/gal mid grade last night just thinking driving two hours (work is 140 miles one way)at 75 MPH at 18 MPG =$38.25 for the Taco vs 75MPH at 32 MPG= $21.51 for the Civic. I would much rather drive the Tacoma but gotta save something for beer.

Commercial Diesel trucks average 7 MPG... 60MPH= $43.63/hr. ($5.09/gal)

I don't know what everyone's wages are but can see the chunk gas is pulling out of them. One thing I do know is individual Americans will always find a way to pay for our vices be it a gas guzzler vehicle, beer, boats, or a big screen TV. Generally the ones saying the government should do something about the prices are the ones not willing to do what it takes to live the lifestyle they want. There are no guarantees in life, but the possibilties are great here in the Greatest Nation. Enough sober rantings, time for a beer!!

PS: How can i get an application for the Western Alliance???

 

Hey guys- you're welcome to be part of the Western alliance 2 requirements: 1-put it in your profile like we did......2-understand that it's a simple regional alliance and not an 'alliance' against other regions-we're ALL a Tacoma family-we aint clikky.............on the subject, I'm smak in the middle of the sesspool of liberalism called San Francisco-I'm holding down the same views on life you guys hold it aint hard-I'm proud of the views I have that are born out of my heritage.

Hey Ridge, I understand the liberal cesspool the bay area is but many of us need it for the income it provides. I am more proud of this alliance than my socialist liberal union I am forced to be a part of. They may get my money but they get none of my political support. THere are a lot of us conservatives in California, it just we're too busy working to be more politically active. God, Family, work, guns, beer all take priority over aguing some assinine liberal "if we just get along, redistribute our money to the poor, and ignore or embrace those that seek the death of us and our country etc" thought process.

The one thing to remember about neo-naziest liberals is that, they are liberals because they can afford to be. Marin County for example, they wanna save the earth but clearcutting 2 acres of land for their 4000sf guest home is acceptable! In the city homeless have more rights that the average joe walking to AT&T park!

Sometimes the rights of some americans must be suspended to secure the safety of this great nation, not the other way around! Thats what the bay area has forgotten.
