Do you think we will see one from TRD?

The DI should make it a beast if properly implemented.

I really hope so. I am planning on picking up a '16 (used to own a '10).

I currently have a turbo-ed Subaru BRZ, which utilizes Toyota's D4S injection system that will be in the new Tacoma, and I can tell you that it does miracles for making huge power safely while maintaining good MPG. (I make over 400rwhp on a 12.5:1 compression 2.0L engine and still get over 30mpg)

I hope so as well! I would go into debt for something like that :)
Curious how much faster a 2nd gen sc will be than a stock 3rd gen. Not that either are fast, maybe which is more fun I guess you might say

I ran a 14.35 with the supercharger and a CAI. I hope they provide a supercharger for the 2016+, but if they get close to 300hp, I don't think they will. Have they even released the HP figures yet?

Seems like a blower would defeat the purpose of the Atkinson cyle (ie lower air/fuel volume in cylinder), unless theres a way to activate and deactivate the blower while in Atkinson mode, like a blow off valve of some sort.

A miller cycle engine is a Atkinson cycle engine with a supercharger.

Not exactly the same, the miller cycle relies on the supercharger to function.

Looks like TRD is phasing out the superchargers:(

not surprising since probably not even 1% (probably closer to .50% or .10%) of vehicles sold of each model was a s/c even sold for. waste of money/r&d to get them certified for each new engine change.

    :annoyed:

Hmmm, maybe I should reconsider MY15 vs MY16 purchase, then? May be too late to even find a MY15 I want at this point.

But then we don't even know the specs for the MY16. With DI the performance gap, if any, between blown 4.0L and the new 3.5L may be small.

And I imagine the gas mileage on the S/C 4.0L must suck big time if you are throttle happy.

Because its ridiculously expensive on top of an expensive truck and doesn't gain much power and doesn't increase the trucks capabilities?

I can see possibly a turbo being added, but I agree with ecoterragaia, the ecu would have to be reprogrammed & it would defeat the purpose.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
No.. not a chance. TRD has given up.

Why do people keep saying that the new tacoma will have a car engine?
