So, last week (when I asked about the two leaf packs with (-)) I installed the rear lift and I was surprised on the quality of the ride!

Didn't have any issues during the install, other than the opening the lower shock mount of the axle just a bit so the shock bushings could fit...

Didn't have any vibrations and didn't install the drop for the rear driveshaft...

Later this week I'll install the front shocks with 886s!!!

 

There's a real simple way to install the front shocks. Raise the truck up high enough, drop off two bolts for the LCA attachment at the wheel, swing the LCA out of the way, slide the oem coliover assembly out, and the new one in. No disconnecting sway bars, or steering connections.

 

True. I installed Dakars with 3rd leaf removed and have had no vibe issues. YMMV

Anyone else installing the dakar's notice that the e-brake cable on the passenger side gets really tight at around full droop? That's a little scary...

 

Yes. It's even worse by 2" or so for the guys who have done the shackle flip kit.

 

Bend the e brake cable bracket a bit. My rear shocks are more than 2" longer than the ome shocks. I've bent the brackets enough the while it is still tight, it's much more reasonable.

I would except I think it's there for a reason (so the ebrake cable doesn't get snagged on a rock or tree branch as vehicle is moving). It could be worse, I just ripped my front axle boot to shreds by not making sure my sway bar end link was securely connected to the spindle on a truck with less than 1000 miles on it

 

Hey guys. I just bought a set of 90000 fronts with the 886, and 60091 for the rears for my DCSB 4x4. I got a killer deal on them (less than 5000 miles) so I went for it. I plan on getting AAL from totyec for the rear lift. After browsing through everything it kinda looks like the 886 is going to get the 2.5" lift i'm looking for to level it out, but it's going to be a stiffer ride? Also, i got the rear diff drop with everything, and the spacer for the taco lean. Do you think i'll be able to go w/o the diff drop, or is it more of a per install basis? Just trying to get my ducks in a row before install.

 

From what I've read, skip the diff drop.

And yes with 886s and 9000s with no extra weight up front, it will probably be a pretty stiff ride. ARB's website recommends that front combo for Tacomas with plate bumper and winch set ups.

 

Is it possible to just get 1.5-2 inch out of the dakars and how? I currently run 885X with 5100s in the front and have 1.5inch lift in the back...it sits almost level with a 0.5" rake I would like to keep it that way or have 1" rake but not more. I only run 265/75/16 duratracs and they would looks lost otherwise lol

I have the feeling, even though I don't transport much my stock leaves (3+1) are flat after only 20k mls...at least it "looks" like it when looking under the truck...

 

Being on the budget i am, do you think i'll have issues keeping the Stock UCA?

 

I'm not sure. You could always get everything installed and aligned and then see if you need them.

I ordered my lift back on April 1st (887s and 90021s up front dakars and 60091 in back) and Low Range sent me the wrong shocks front and rear. Took a couple weeks to get it all squared away and while I was waiting, I went ahead and ordered LR ucas.

Finally got everything in 2 weeks ago and I tore/strained some muscles in my leg and foot. Killing me finally having everything in the garage and having to wait until I heal to install it!

 

I'm thinking I wont get around to install until 4th of July... maybe sooner if i get time (and a buddies garage). I'm thinking i'll test my luck with the stiff ride and stock UCA's. Just have to order the rear AAL. Who would be better for the AAL and any other misc. fittings? Toytec or wheelers? I know there's a discount for Toytec (like 5%???), is there one for Wheelers?

 

I'd recommend Dan at Wheeler's... Seems like an awesome guy and answered a ton of questions for me while I was looking at lifts.

I ordered my lift through Low Range Off Road due to a 10% off promo with free shipping they were running for tax refund season.

I was going to go with Dan until I stumbled on that deal.

 

what kind of lift could i expect out of 883's on my first gen with with a trail gear front bumper?
