Those wouldn't be too hard to make. Couldn't put CVT on it for legal reasons.

Well its a land Cruiser with a diesel so I've got that going for me.
So about that... I pinged Adam who in turn went to Tepui about not having a black over...they said it was a great idea and didn't even think about offering that...so likely down the road Tepui will offer an awning with a black cover. No idea on timeline but they seemed interested.

    Easy Fix for Wind Noise

I know you folks with MT treads don't hear roof rack wind noise, but we noticed a big increase with BFG AT KO's. It's not as loud as the AC fan on the highest setting, but a good bit louder than the fan on the second highest setting. In practical terms, where I would normally have the radio in my 2014 TRD DCLB at volume setting 30, I now have to set it to 39 to hear clearly.

So when we saw Home Depot from the highway we pulled in, got 1/2 inch black foam pipe insulation and I cut a piece in the parking lot to block the air under the front deflector. We're guessing it reduced the noise by half. There are still small gaps at the sides where the shape of the deflector deviates from the shape of the truck, but my wife is happy again. It stayed on the truck for 200 miles with no adhesive.

Good to know! I moved my deflector up to the middle setting and that seemed to cut some noise over the crossbars down. I'll try bumping it back down and sealing it up after we get back from Moab.

I can get some later, but here's what I used.

    - (4) M6 or M8 bolts, 1.5" long (Found them in my misc hardware, but I think they're M8's)
    - (4) Neoprene lock nuts
    - (4) Fender washers
    - (4) Nylon spacers 1/2" thick

The head of the bolt fits into the track of the awning in such a way that it won't turn when you're tightening the nut. The 1/2" spacer is enough to clear the screws on the face of the side rail. It's that easy. The holes in the side rails are perfectly spaced to hold the awning.

I cut the weather stripping to fit and just siliconed around the spacers, had some hard rains here and no leaking so far. Loving the rack, get compliments on it all the time. It truly changes the look of the truck.

You first gen guys are making me feel bad. I promise I will get it on @CohbsTaco truck as soon as possible. I got the rack Powdercoated for him so I am waiting now on those parts. On top of that I am buried trying to get caught up and get orders out the door after being out of tow last week for work and for overland expo.

Any other suggestions for cutting down wind noise? I have mine on the middle setting like @ckeene9 and it did help out a decent amount. It's not too bad until I get over 65mph

I work for a glass company and there's definitely some poly seals for glass that would slide/hold on to the bottom of that fairing.

There are plenty of products out there that can seal the gap, some of which I can get ahold of. The only problem for me is that I have to order in bulk, usually a 500ft roll. I'd have to have about 90 orders to make it worth while. I can look around and see if I can find smaller quantities though.

    Would something like this work?Trim.jpg

Which fairing are we talking about, the curved bottom or flat bottom? Someone measure the gap and let me know what the leg length needs to be.

I'm guessing that a flexible leading edge will stop the wind noise, even if there's still a gap.

Found this one as well. The gap is a little large though. I bet the gripping wings will hold the 1/8" fairing though. I'd have to get a sample first to confirm.

I don't have anything like that lying around but any glass shower door manufacturer would have an item like that to seal the edge of a glass shower door to the wall or sill. Most of the products for glass will be clear/tranlucent. Common thicknesses are 3/16", 1/4", and 3/8".
