I own a 2007 Tacoma I live in the great Nw and she has had a hunter and fisherman life for sure. That being said in 168k ive replaced my leaf springs 2 times center bearing and all the u joints every time too all at my cost I like many of us was riding around waiting for the second letter to come with the fix for my vehicle and it was past time my driveline failed sending me for a ride id rather forget. How many have called Toyota motorcorp to explain the whole drive line issue that comes with springs that are flat and dead did I mention 5 pair of shocks . They told me if I did not feel safe driving my vehicle or I thought it was doing damage to itself to park it . They wont do anything period at this point it appears maybe a Lawsuit will speed this up and refill a few pennies on the dollar we spent fixing bad engineering. Way to much torque on those little springs.

Secondly if you have had a good experience please leave the name of the Toyo rep and a number so I can contact any who feel this issue is on Toyota and not the consumer.

    OP welcome to the forum.

In trying to decipher what you are trying to explain to us... From what I did understand: You replaced your leaf springs 2 times, center bearing, and all the u-joints. You waited for 2nd letter from Toyota?? Like for a TSB or something? Either way, I am sorry about your leaf spring issues, however this truck, like every other vehicle on the road is susceptible to parts wearing out and/or eventually breaking, which is why it is good to have a good eye for inspection and regular maintenance schedules in order to keep the truck running in top condition. In your case, aside from having the rear leaf springs replaced by Toyota's TSB, it sounds like you are expecting them to replace everything, every time something breaks. In the case of the leaf springs, if the first pair was faulty or "drive line issue that comes with springs that are flat" then why didnt you just purchase better, stronger springs if the Toyota ones weren't up to par for you? On that same thought, why did you purchase the leaf springs 2 additional times if Toyota had not made an changes on them? As far as the shocks, those are normal wear and tear, especially with 168,000 miles. I am not trying to be condescending or anything, just trying to explain it to you from an unbiased 3rd perspective... Drive-line failure at 168,000 miles is unfortunate and probably not too common, however you are 132,000 miles and almost 9 years since your initial warranty expired. I believe at this point, either buy another truck or keep replacing the wear and tear items... I, however, would not expect Toyota to fix anything (unless its a TSB or a specific recall) this far into the game. I believe a lawsuit or threats of a lawsuit is going to get you nowhere fast, and I would spend that energy in getting the truck up and running properly or looking for another truck.

Toyota trucks are one of the most reliable and dependable on the road, but they are susceptible to wear and tear like any other truck, it is primarily up to you to decide what condition your truck is kept in, not Toyota (respectively).

Best of luck to you getting this resolved.

If you're the original owner and just talking about this now? Good luck getting Toyota to cover repairs. As with Madmax, I agree that these are wear and tear items and depending how much you use your truck in the backcountry (which it sounds like you do a fair bit of), suspension components will wear out substantially quicker.

Think of the position you are taking, but do so from the eyes of the manufacturer, 168000 miles on a 8 year old truck? for all they know every one of those miles is across washboard gravel roads at 60+. There is a reason manufacturers have time/distance traveled, warranty coverage.

Shok Industries 2/0 big 4 upgrade and sound deadener.
Mechanical items are subject to break, it's just how things are. Sometimes you get shit luck and your carrier bearing drops itself at 45K and you're under warranty and sometimes you get lucky like me and go 60K with a driveline vibe from a lift and the CB dies. I'm pretty meticulous about maintenance so I don't know if greasing my u-joints every 5K has saved them this long or once again if I just got the good batch. I don't really think you're looking at any kind of winning lawsuit, OP. I'm really not sure what you're referencing as far as too much torque on the springs but they did just put out a TSB for the leaf springs if that gives you any peace of mind.

For a bigger issue look at all the people that have dealt with the clock spring issues, myself included. That's a piece of vital (depending who you ask) potentially lifesaving equipment that has failed in various aspects but people have dealt with it and fixed it.

I worked in the oil patch for three years before going back in to the Military reserves while oil recovers. Anyway, my truck has seen roads that make your back country roads look like freshly paved asphalt. All this was done with an AAL on factory leafs and Toytec coilovers, and I have not had a single issue. I'm not denying your issues exist and I'm willing to bet that if my truck was stock I would run in to some if not all of them too eventually. You must have been pretty hard on your truck all the while carrying some heavy cargo for those issues to arise like that and it sounds like modifications should have been done to improve the offroad ability of your truck from the moment you took possession. This is not specific to Toyota trucks either, I have seen numerous domestic truck brands with these same issues or worse. It was always a matter of putting too much stress on components that were not designed for it.

I'm not saying dont sue, sometimes a little threatening gets companies to move their butts and do something. As was the case when my Chevy Sonic master cylinder failed and my wife went through an intersection, then the next day the service manager tried to tell me it feels "normal" when taking it for a test drive. I'm saying that you'll have a hard time compiling evidence against them and I do not think it will turn in to a class action case. But if it is cheaper for them to fix your issues than paying for lawyers then usually they just fix the vehicle.

Every truck/SUV/VAN I have ever owned needed suspension work, some from the factory (Jeep Wrangler Sahara 08, my 07 Dodge Ram 1500), some a few miles down the road ('11 Taco has all new shocks, struts, brake friction material), and some have every spring removed, rebushed, rearched, with new leaves and reinstalled. In 168k miles of heavy use, I would expect springs and other suspension components to fail. Personally, I have never had to replace Rancho shocks, Michelin X tires, Wagner Severe Duty brake Pads too often. Could it be that you are using components that are too light duty for the intended use?

I just went through this with a Ford on an 2013 Escape where the heads were cracking and leaking oil on the exhaust and causing fire and Ford bought the car back without any issues....

I did not have to file any lawsuit. But I did have to send a lot of letters for action but in the end being somewhat civil with a strong assertive plan prevailed.

One thing I did learn was you are at the hands of the case worker on these issues but if you put undeniable facts out there it make sit real hard to dispute.

In my case it was put all the Liability and on notice issues out front first and foremost....

    1. Car catching fire and burning down my house when parked in the garage and the possibility of causing property damage, death or harm or the occupants.

I received my down payment and all 12 payments made for a total of $9,000 bucks and that's how I ended up in a 2014 Toyota Tacoma Off-Road Double Cab.....All of this took less than 60 days from claim to settlement.

Maybe the OP resolved the problem... That or his truck spontaneously exploded with him in it, hence no need for any further lawsuits? Those damn unreliable Toyotas!!!

Every Yota owner knows they have bad springs and if u lift it even slightly u have drive line vibe and my clock spring is faulty I had an 03 trd with bad springs and now 2011 has a clock spring issue and will no doubt develop bad springs they already squeak .
