    image.jpg image.jpg I am a new owner of a 2015 DCLB TRD Sport 4x4!!!!
Paid $31,600 out the door or $30,500 was my puchase price before tax, title, etc....

But after just a few days of driving and 400 miles on the speedo I already notice a small rust spot (size of half a penny) on my frame!!!!!!!! Should I already start to worry? Pics later of frame spots.

    Welcome to TW!

Rust bubble, or chip? if it's on the chassis itself, just hit it with a little POR15. Wouldn't worry about it too much.

Thanks Blue! Great info/support here!!! I will send some pics tomorrow with better description- I'm going to take it by the stealer Friday and see what they say/try and get some free rustproof....good thing is it's still new and I can tackle these problems before they get worse! Love the truck though and plan on keeping it a reeeeaaally long time. I also got lifetime engine/power train warranty! Couldn't beat it.

I've already started doing some research on rust prevent and see it's a mix between por15/primer and paint/one other product I can't remember now

Most people here are pretty knowledgeable, after all these are fairly basic trucks, lots of DIY'ing going around and well, one thing leads to another where all of a sudden scotch guarding all the doors sounds like a good idea :p

If you're looking for long term rust preventative, perhaps try something like POR15 Chassis Coat, it has a UV resistant additive, won't break down the same way their regular product will over time if exposed to regular sunlight.

Hope you have a solid know how and some change to burn, there are lots of really cool mods available here :D

Good to see that you inspected everything. I'm looking forward to the pic of this rust spot but I think you'll be just fine. Dude, you live in San Diego. We don't rust out here ;) With that said, I hit my entire underside with Fluid Film the day after I bought my 15 and again 6 months later.

That aint a bad idea! I did boiled linseed oil and it looks as though it needs a new coat every year. How did the fluid film hold up for you? did it form a waxy barrier?

It seems to hold up very well for at least 6 months. I wouldn't call it waxy. At first I was only planning on doing it once a year but I figured what the heck, Fluid Film cans are relatively cheap

Hey guys, I was doing some research, and check this out! Messy but it works. I may be willing to give it a try. You can heat it and spray it. When cool its a wax coating.

Yea, but out the door was too good...$31,500ish with lifetime powertrain. As long as frame doesn't fall apart I'll keep her forever!

Thanks Taco-didn't dig deep enough into forums yet.....I'll get some pics this weekend and try to add onto the other forum you linked. But just a little too much info to read in the next year.... Overall seems like Fluid Film and Por15 have pretty good reviews.

At this point cost is almost irrelevant as the frame is pretty much the most important part of the truck....I wouldn't mind paying, so I'm not concerned about price-just quality and what is the best. Not trying to pinch pennies on the frame.

Ah okay. I saw on the window sticker where it said Otay Mesa. That's basically here in San Diego.
