I don't think 14" is a shorty. What is stronger and more rigid about it, is where it mounts at the base. We are still talking about antennas, right? Anyway, it seems to come with a longer adapter, but the antenna itself can still flex. It has been durable for me, and looks much better. To each his own.

Interesting....I go thru Automatic car washes probably once or twice a year (in winter) and I don't do anything to my antennae and I haven't had any issues. My truck is 8 years old....

I run every car and truck I work on through the car wash. The problem is the antenna not being tight when it breaks. Hand tight is not enough. Use the wrench provided for newer trucks or an open end wrench with older ones and get it tight. If you want to keep it finger tight then take it off before the car wash. The base of the antenna flexes if loose the snaps off the threaded stem. Yes you can get away with a loose antenna once in a while but I can always tell when the stem is bent when I try to pull the loose ones off for the wash. Don't try to bend then stem back. They break instantly.
Make sure it's tight and you should not have any issues.

The antenna doesn't flex at the base unless it has a spring mount, which it doesn't. The shorter the shaft of the antenna, the more rigid and brittle it is.
Not a matter of opinion, it's how things work.

Guarantee you take an OEM length antenna and a shorter antenna and the shorter antenna will snap first, every time.

I do. All day long. No issues with any OEM antennas I've ever had, the one aftermarket antenna (18") snapped the first time. :pout:

if you read the reviews from the Detroit show. You should be able to look up 2016 Tacoma reviews. Of course that's where I read the info. It wasn't on a Toyota site

Any particular reason you can't come up with a link? There are many articles on the Detroit Auto Show about the Tacoma, all of them just state that it will be a 3.5L Atkinson Cycle V6 with D4S injection system. Similar to the 2GR-FSE, perhaps you read the HP rating for that and though it was for the Tacoma, there is no stated HP or MPG ratings for the 2016 Taco yet, or there'd be more threads bitching about it.

The part where you claim the new engine will make 305 horses. Provide a link to a reputable source or shut up about it.

I've also highlighted wrong information regarding the current-gen Taco in your earlier post, quoted below:

I use a local car wash just like this. No issues so far and I don't take my antenna off. I think you have to make sure you parked in the center though. ;) You can practice parking in the center with the lines in a parking lot. Most people need more practice at doing this.

I only use the touchless car washes. The friction car washes rub/beat the dirt off. I'd rather rinse it off. Easier on the paint.

Biggest hazard to my antenna are the shelves in my garage. They are about an inch too low and the antenna clips them as I pull in and out. It's flexible. Likely takes more beating driving down the interstate.

So SpeedyTech straight up called you out asking why you can't provide a link. And your response to bewilderment that he can't find it on his own?

If it's so easy to find just Copy+Paste the link already. If you're right simply prove it and make everyone else feel dumb already. Unless of course you're making crap up. It's easier to provide the link than keep farting around with indignant posts.

Car & Driver Magazine has a write up here: http://www.caranddriver.com/news/2016-toyota-tacoma-official-photos-and-info-news

I'd imagine they'd do everything they can to keep up to date. They said Toyota wasn't ready yet to release specs. Car & Driver said they believe there will be a 40-50hp gain in the 2016 motor (236 + 50 = 286). That's speculation and has no actual substance.

So where are you getting your 305hp figure besides thin air?

I have the same antenna on my truck. I originally bought mine just so that I could clear my old garage door without slapping my antenna around. I've kept it on since I've moved into a house with an oversized garage. I like the look and as far as i can tell it hasn't affected my reception either.

Lol, I don't think you read my previous posts, that car wash hits my 4ft CB antenna, not my normal antenna. My parking is stellar, I only back in. I was telling another member about my shenanigans.
