I want to buy 35 watt 6000k hid headlights and fog lights for my 06 tacoma to put in my stock housings and want to know if that will get to hot for the reflector or melt anything? I know they are not supposed to be put in stock housings but I plan on aiming them down until I buy and not using my dogs unless I'm not around any cars. I'm asking about the heat question because I drive back and forth to college 3hrs each way on an interstate at night where there are hardley ever any cars and don't want them to get to hot to mess anything up. Thanks for any help.

I wouldn't put HID's in your housings without doing a proper retrofit. You'll blind others, and due to the scatter of light (by not having a proper housing meant for HIDs) you will adversely affect your lighting performance.

To answer you question, it probably wont melt anything in the headlights, dont know about your fogs...

do it right, do it once.

Is there anything you can do at all to the stock fog light housing so they won't be blinding?

Thanks for the honesty...... Shame u don't care about others safety tho, u can be held liable for an accident based on the blinding of others.

It's not that idc about others safety I just care about my safety first and the lights really help with my visibility since I'm practically blind at night it's the only thing that helps my vision

It won't help your lighting situation. If you really want to get better lighting without changing the housing, get Philips X-treme Vision bulbs. They are much brighter than stock, and will light up the road properly. I believe they are the brightest halogen bulbs you can buy.

If you have too much foreground light, it can actually blind you (due to your pupils contracting) to what's at a distance. That is what will happen if you try to compensate by aiming your headlights down. It is also for this reason that you shouldn't run with your foglights on.

    For more information, read http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/lights/fog_lamps/fog_lamps.html

You don't care about other's safety. If you did, you would be using the brightest halogen bulbs you could buy, not 10K purple lights that don't light up anything.

By running those lights, you are making other drivers liable for your stupidity.

Oh yes and btw OP if you put in HIDS you'll be getting the people that like to hate on you because of having hids in stock headlights without retrofits like this guy^^^
But that's ok by me because he clearly can't read as to why I have them considering I'm practically blind at night but that's his opinion that really doesn't matter to me or mean anything they work for me so just be warned TW does not like hids in stock housings

You aren't helping your vision by using 10000K lights. If you really wanted to help your vision, you would be using 4300K lights. That is a tested, proven scientific fact. Don't bother trying to deny it.

Also, I explained why improper lighting can actually blind you even though it seems brighter. But okay, you can keep believing whatever you want to believe.

Your words and your actions are saying two very different things. Don't bother trying to deny that fact.

Oh so you go off the info you found on the Internet instead of experience ok well that's cool you kno so much about my exact situation to kno that it doesn't help me at all yea makes a lot of sense let me go put my stock head lights back in because my experience means nothing to me and just listen to what I found on the Internet haha

Your "experience" means exactly nothing. My experience is that my S2000 with factory 4300K headlights puts out much better light than my brother's Crossfire 6000K headlights. The S2000 has proper HID projectors. The Crossfire has halogen projectors. I can only imagine how much worse your 10000K lights in reflectors would perform.

From the site I linked above. It is primarily talking about fog lights, but the trend holds true.

Which is why when judging lights, I try to see how well it illuminates things down the road. The Crossfire doesn't illuminate nearly as well down the road as the S2000, and has more foreground light.

    Additionally, from the HID FAQ:

If you think factory s2k projectors are nice, try a modded S2K projector!:goingcrazy:

The airflow over the headlights will help keep temps down. this will be acheived just by driving. Pick up a set of bulbs with the shields. this will help out a lot. don't to forget to reaim the headlights
