The Metro was a Toyota in a Geo body. :)

Whoops. It was the Prizm that was a Toyota. The Metro was a Suzuki.

So far the worst car I've been around was a past girlfriend's Dodge neon. Transmission blew the first time around 25k (it's bad if the dealer had extra tannys on the shelf). Second time was about two years later (she passed on a Honda which she regretted). I also remember how great it was to drive my 13 year old Prelude after driving that "new" pos neon.

It was a Suzuki swift base I believe. It was a great car. 50mpg. We took many long 10-20 hour family vacation road trips in that car.

Another vote for a dodge neon! My woman bought one new in 1999.
    Measurements in km:

    25k- radiator
60k- radiator again, which caused tranny to go.
Tons of front end parts yearly.
Body rusted out in several areas.
The only good thing I can say about that car, was the stock breaks lasted like 6 years! And the exhaust lasted as well.
She replaced it in 2008 with a Matrix, which to this date has only had one problem, in that it is burning oil, but still not as much as that piece of junk neon.

This makes me laugh, my family has a 1978 XJ6L with the ACTUAL first multi point fuel injection system they had ever produced and it is okay but idles like crap. Just feels like it is missing all the time.

    Too few to list.
My family likes to change cars a lot and sometimes double up. I alone had plenty of new and used cars in the past but the absolute worse in the 40+ cars that we've had was a brand new 2001 Dodge Ram 5.9L Sport. It had problems the first 20k miles up until we sold it at 82K miles. It was gently driven, never towed or hauled with. Total POS.

20K miles - brakes shot, front hub/bearing replacement
Check engine light and air bag lights on and off
dash cracking and various plastic interior breaking off
    60K miles - Clogged cats
76K miles - trans will sometimes not go in reverse

1992 VW Corrado SLC. Owned for 14 years from day one. It was hard to sell, since I dumped so much money into it from maintenance to mods. Glad I did though, sometimes I feel nostalgic but I don't regret selling it.

I know a guy that worked at the Dodge dealership way back then, he said they had a full size Dodge sedan come in that would not run right so they took it apart and one piston had no rings on it from the factory.

Triumph TR7. Maybe the worst POS ever to run on 4 wheels, on the few occasions the damn thing ran. My father bought one new, then gave it to me a couple of months later because he actually needed to get to work on time.

Throttle, clutch, carburetors were all crap, and of course the thing had Lucas "electronics". But the most fun part was the cylinder head. To get the low hood shape and still be able to get at the head bolts, the idiot designers put the bolts through the head at an angle. According to the manual, you needed to re-torque them every 500 miles.

I was visiting friends from school over the summer - 1981 - and blew a head gasket heading east half way over the Throgs Neck bridge into what I'm told is the Bronx but looked more like Berlin in 1945. Only the people weren't as welcoming.

My first car was a 1982 Camaro Berlinetta. When I bought it it had a thrown rod which I knew about but only paid $200 for it. Then I found a block out of an S-10 at a junk yard for $500. That car lasted a couple years before giving me any problems so I can't really complain but everything started going out at once. Speedo 3 times, power steering, water pump, carburetor rebuilt twice, and electrical problems all within a few months. I loved that car while it lasted though.

Lol, the neon has to be the leakingest muscle car in history. You could honestly put a pint of oil in it every day whether you drove it or not and the pistons would still seize.

Worst for me is a toss up between an '01 Dodge Caravan and a '97 Ford Ranger..

Dodge had a blown head gasket and leaking radiator after PO had rebuilt the tranny..

The Ford's PO had done everything they could to pass emissions, even attached a new fuel pump by wrapping bits of wire around it to hold it on due to excessive rust making it impossible to remove the old bolts. After replacing PCM valve and some vacuum lines I went to a mechanic, he spent the better part of a week going back and forth between his shop and the junkyard trying to fix the truck for me... Ended up charging me no labour, just the cost of the intake manifold gasket which he had ordered for it OEM. What a great guy, I WILL repay him in my lifetime.
