Wow! My work computer did not like that site. Got the "Access Denied" pop up. The internet cops here must have discovered something they didn't like.

:threadjacked: you guys here are my family so I must share the good news with you

as of 5/18/15 GM agreed to and has been ordered by the judge in writing as part of the settlement to buy back my lemon truck (2014 Silverado 1500) at full cost plus all insurance premiums, sales taxes, and trade in value, in short, im made completely whole by this decission.

for those who missed it I went through BBB and the GM rep which was a joke and a waste of time then I finally skipped arbitration upon the advice of my lawyer who said it would only give then a preview of your argument when then denied you at arbitration and forced you to get a lawyer anyway. now arbitration will work if you want another replacement truck but if you want your money back then the arbitration person will just tell you to go take a hike.

    so to wrap up:

I bought my truck in 8/27/14 and had the bad vibration they couldn't fix and wasted two months with BBB and GM rep until finally in november I had to get a lawyer and file lemon law in civil court and here I am 6 months later finally with a resolution due in no small part to the youtube video I made that GM did not want shown to a jury in open court not to mention they had to convince the jury nothing was wrong with my truck and as soon as they saw the video there was no way they would buy GMs claim there was nothing wrong with the truck.

if you are interested the video is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppSl0D3AQm8

I pray no one else has to go through this but sadly there are thousands of people who bought lemons just like me and most just trade them in tby aking $8k-$10k in lost value to do it just to avoid fighting with GM about this.

but had this never happened I wouldn't be driving a great first gen taco right now so I guess it all works out in the big picture.

Way cool. Not too often you hear about a complete, positive outcome. I'm guessing you are not looking to buy another Chevrolet. Think about the Tundra. I know the MPG is the less of all the others, but if you are going full size, 2 MPG makes little difference.

Made a bit of progress on MY utility trailer. I sold mine 3 years ago, but never got a chance to replace it. People kept wanting trailers. I told myself, enough of this bill shot, I build trailers and I don't even have my own. It looks bad when the builder doesn't even use his own product.

I need to clarify, this going to be called the cinnamon roller, in honor of Jen and Eric.

WOW! I am speechless for once in my life!

    OK, it passed, phew!

Don't even know where to begin with all the happy thoughts!!

@keakar , congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!!! That is freaking awesome! After being forced to put so much effort into maintaining excellent records of every little damn thing with our situation in prep. for the Visa dispute, I can really sincerely sympathize with what a huge PITA dealing with that kind of stuff is. Different situation, but still, enough similarities that I think we both have an idea of what the other is/was dealing with. Just the stress and the keeping track of it all really seriously sucks dude. So very happy for you that it went the way you wanted and deserved for it to go!!! Here's hoping mine does the same!

PS: I LOVE LOVE LOVE your comment about being buried in your Taco!! Know why? Now I'm not the only one crazy :der: enough to talk of being buried with my Taco on this thread!! You've officially moved into a tie for  1st place with me on that honor @keakar , how does that feel buddy?!?!? :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

And by the way, there is no such thing as thread jack on this thread anymore, in my mind it has officially crossed over to the ultimate BS thread, my FAVE!!!! So if it's on your mind, say it TW!! Keep the thread alive, I gotta get my TW buddy fix still!! :)

Oh yeah, the other thing that I freaked with happiness about when I woke up and read my TW updates - do I really get to have a trailer named after me???????? The cinnamon roller??????????? LOVE IT!! Are you going to paint a cinnamon roll on the side? Dude, that would be seriously cool  Show us pics as you make progress!!

I am in such a great mood right now guys!!

Got to play "backroads travel agent" all day yesterday, my fave. Studying tons of maps, books, and web articles about how the hell to get where we are going this weekend. Unmarked roads and things like, "turn by the cattle trough" type directions = study that shit slowly and carefully, and don't forget to bring it with either!! @koditten , this could be one of those times when it might be worth getting off our asses and actually learning how to use the GPS we have. Nah, that might take the fun and excitement away that comes from me fumbling with paper maps in the passenger seat and telling Eric, "I'm PRETTY  SURE this is the right way???" :D

Found a hotel that will work for us in the Boise area, had enough reward points for one night free, so that's how I'm justifying flushing the cash when we are drowning in Taco bills - we only have to pay for one night! :D Plan is to leave Saturday AM, arrive to Boise area mid/late afternoon, grab some food, maybe go for a swim, and check out the town a bit (we've considered moving to Boise, would be nice to have less rain & more sun and it's big enough to have an OKish job market, although not sure if I can pack up noahpete and take him too - if not, we'll stay; I realize now that the Taco is a spoiled princess and requires the very best Taco doctor!! Not taking chances on f'ing that incredibly awesome situation up! :D).

Then the big event is Sunday. Dolly won't be able to handle the hiking we will ATTEMPT to do, so that spoiled princess will lounge in the room all day. Although we likely will not be able to handle the hike we will ATTEMPT to do either!!

There will be hours of rough road :burnrubber:driving, trying to find a couple of different trailheads, then maybe if we're lucky enough to actually find one, some hiking. Then more slow, rough road driving to head back towards the hotel. Drive back home to Portland area Monday.

So it will be lots of driving for just one day of exploring, but it is so worth it. The area we're going is somewhere we've only been once, and it was so beautiful, so remote, and therefore so exciting to explore it. Some very fun roads, some wildlife, and some seriously scenic stuff to see - will take about 5 trillion pics and share a few next week :).

Also, we never did find the trailhead we were looking for when we drove into this same area before, even though we tried and tried and tried, so it will be ridiculously satisfying if we can find it this time. Been driving us both batty ever since we couldn't find it, and that was a full 2 summers ago. Hoping for success this time!

One more thing Keakar, I love your last statement here. Finding that silver lining in the nasty ordeal, love that. And that your silver lining is a 1st gen Taco,

That's what I keep thinking about our situation - if everything happens for a reason, then I think our horrible situation was supposed to happen so that I'd find all my awesome new Tacoma World buddies AND find an awesome dealer tech that actually understands why the Taco is so valuable to us (whereas so many don't and think we are nutty for keeping her) and is willing to go the extra mile to patch her up for us. I'd say those are some pretty awesome silver linings. :yay:

Down by the shed or wood scrap pile. 4 wood sticks, sticking about 3" or so above the bed on each inside corner. Some wood squeeze clamps to the corner areas on the edge of the bed to hold the sticks there. Or some duck tape to hold them there. All you need is a guide to help line things up as you set it down. Remove tape sticks and/or clamps once done,,and your done!.

Some folks drill holes in the bed rail,,then drill the same corresponding hole in the shell mounting plate. Mount double nutted guide bolts in either the bed holes or the holes in the shell plate(seen it done both ways) for quick and easy line up pins. Mounting the guide bolts to the shell eliminates a exposed bolt sticking up on the edge of the bed when the shell is off. Mounting the bolts to the truck bed lip then gives you a clamping force to hold the shell on(double edged sword there). I believe one side or the other is a cable tray just under the edge of the bed lip. A person needs to take a peek up in there and find a good spot to drill to avoid those wires and such. You fit your shell and take measurements first,,then proceed with the above.

It can be done for nothing,, or for a few bucks in 4 bolts and 8 nuts and washers.

Because I have done it many times, I just drop the thing on there and step out from underneath,,then add my removable clamps to each corner,,to hold the shell on.

Congrats Karl. Brother Eric ran down the Lemon law with a new Silverado and a vibration problem that they endlessly tried to fix and gave up on. He won also and was awarded his money back from his trade in and payments made. It was right when the cash for clunkers was in full swing.

Thanks Mod, showing this one to Eric for sure! And congrats on your little town's new fame! :) You ever go exploring Mt. St. Helens? We haven't but eventually want to check it out. Sounds like some good hiking up there. We did a hike to a really nice, massive waterfall up in some forest not far from you last summer. Can't think of the name right now, but it was a beauty. So much good stuff to choose from! :D

they give you nothing, not one penny. they add up every penny and that's all you get is break even but its still a victory to break even in situations like this.

im getting between $6000-$6500 back for the insurance ($600)and truck notes paid to date ($3200) plus the trade in value of my other truck ($2300)

but it takes about a month to finish the buy back so I might have to pay another note and another month insurance while I wait, but I get that back too if I have to pay those. the main thing is the terms are settled and recorded in court documents as full buyback so they cant change their mind, all they can do is continue to aggravate me with requests for info from documents they already have but are too lazy to read :annoyed: which they are doing every day

    What a PITA.

Sorry you got that lemon. I personally don't like the Silverado but that thing was beyond a piece of crap. Have fun with the 1st gen!

If you buy new shop the market. The Tundra is nice but the cost and mpg on a new one are really disappointing.
