TPMS What Pressure?

I apologize if this has been asked before, but does anyone know at what tire pressure triggers the dash light to come on? It's a 2010 Tacoma double cab, stock tires and wheels.

ibelieve its when it drops 25% below the set pressure of what is deemed safe. ive had mine come on at 19- 21 psi. i run 29 in the front and 30 in the back

 

Mine just tripped when a tire went below 25 psi. I usually run 35 front and 31/32 in the rear

 

Mine tripped yesterday which was really the first cold day. The truck is only 3 weeks old. The door placard says 30 psi front and rear. I checked and the 2 front were 28 and the 2 rear were 30. I haven't checked the spare yet though, I'm thinking that may be the culprit.

 

I've had my tpms light come on a few times due to temperature changes.
Checking the spare is a pita since the spare is installed with the valve stem up against the bottom of the truck...have to lower the spare to check the pressure. Does anyone know if you can stow the spare the other way around to where the valve stem is accessible, or has anyone installed a flexible valve stem extension?

 

yeah i had to recently put air in the spare. its really cool how toyota put a winch like system on the spare tire so it just lowers down

 

Mounted mine valve stem down for access.PITA to lower it down everytime you check the air in the spare.

Mine came on last weekend. The truck sat outside at a friends house for a few hours. Temp went down to 34F. All 4 tires were at 30psi when checked.

 

i run 36 to 40 in all tires. keep em even and you'll be fine. psi will be dictated by the type of tires you end up with.

 

This is correct, so if yours is set at 29psi (mine was stock) it would come on at around 22psi.

1st time mine came on it was due to a big drop in the temps.
Yes you can flip it around without any problems.

 

I have just recently put nitrogen in the tires. I am hoping to eliminate the problems this way.

You should re-set your TPMS every time you change the pressure in the tires. There's a procedure for it in the owners manual, but I believe you just press and hold the TPMS button under the treeing column with the ignition in the on position.

This allows you to set the "nominal" value, it will trip when it fall so many PSI lower than this nominal value. Very useful if you don't run the prescribed 29 psi.

 

if you guys check all your tires and the TPMS light is still on...make sure to check the spare tire too...that also has a TPMS. I didn't know about this before until my buddy told me about it now whenever the light comes on I check that tire 1st cause its never used...
