He's not going to be drafted if he's not starting.

I just don't see him wasting his last year of eligibilty going to a school where he isn't basically the guaranteed starter.

I completely agree with this, but I still Smag gets 1st 3-4 starts just because of playbook knowledge

Forgive me I'm drunk, Malik is before Francois.

Also 11:30 am against USF is something I don't like.

I'm a believer in Smag over Golson. We're not gonna be what we were the last 2 years either way so give me the guy that has learned from Jameis and Jimbo for the last 2 years not the one that lost 5 of his last 7. Just my .02.

I hope you're ready for the ungodly heat of that game. Supposedly they scheduled it like that to get the most time for our team to recover before our Friday game vs. BC.

That's gonna be a rough game. I'm predicting 9-3 at best for this year. It's hard to say it but I think we lose to BC, Clemson (fuck Clemson) and one more that I'm not sure about yet.

Also I definitely want Smag to start, I've met the guy and he's nice as can be and and I feel like he should, but it's also hard to argue with Golsons 2013 (I think) numbers if he can repeat that it would be great. 2016/17 should be way better than this year though. I'm mostly just excited to see Ramsey and how he grows over the next year and hope he ends up a top 5 pick. Not sure if I've ever mentioned this but Ramsey and Kenny Shaw are my two favorite FSU players from years I remember

TAMPA – Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher’s spring tour made it way to Tampa, Fla. on Tuesday evening. Prior to speaking to the Seminole faithful, Fisher spoke with Noles247.com about the addition of Notre Dame transfer Everett Golson.

He spoke about how the ball got rolling when Golson announced his intentions to depart the Fighting Irish.

“We knew him, we played him, we knew what kind of guy he was,” Fisher said. “He reached out to us. We took a day or so and thought through things. We did some research. Then he came down and visited. He was a great young man and I think he will fit very good in the organization.”

Fisher shared more details about how their interaction went during Golson’s visit to FSU.

“Very personal, what his goals, his objectives, where he sees himself, how he sees this thing going,” Fisher said. “I understand it is very important, that he wants an opportunity to play. We have great players and we still have a tremendous team – the chemistry and that dynamic.

“I was very impressed with him as a person, in those meetings, what his objectives were and how he is going about things,” Fisher said. “He is just a tremendous young man.”

Golson’s visit to FSU occurred on Monday, May 11th. The two parties didn’t have a great deal of contact between then and when he announced on Tuesday, May 19th.

“I left him alone until last Friday,” Fisher said. “He told me he was going to announce on Tuesday. I felt very comfortable with that. After meeting him, I knew he was a man of his word.”

“I thought the meeting went very well. We talked on the phone once,” Fisher added. “I knew we had a great chance for sure and then he went ahead and decided to do it.”

Prior to adding Golson to the roster, Fisher spoke with his current signal-callers about it.

“Very good,” Fisher said when asked how the quarterbacks handled the addition of Golson. “I told them ahead of time. We already spoke with Sean (Maguire), De’Andre (Johnson), Deondre (Francois) and JJ (Cosentino), and those guys. They understand what we are doing. He is going to have to come in and compete for a job. No different.”

As for his newest addition at the quarterback spot, Fisher shed more light on the player and person that is making his way to Tallahassee.

“The guy is an excellent player,” Fisher said. “He led his team to a National Championship (game). … He is very good player. He is a great young guy. He is very charismatic. He is very smart. I think he will handle himself in the team concept very well. I feel very comfortable with that. You just have to be honest with everybody involved in the situation.”

Fisher also believes Golson can grasp his playbook and the FSU offense in the short window of time he has at FSU.

“Ya’ll keep judging, when a high school kid comes into college, his background and knowledge of football is very, very limited,” Fisher said. “This guy has been in a college system for four years. They say (Notre Dame) is a spread, it is more of a pro-spread system. His knowledge of football, after meeting with him, is very good.

“Just like Russell Wilson did when he went to Wisconsin, those guys, you are talking about a different animal than a true freshman learning a playbook. They understand the situations,” Fisher added “I most definitely think he can. Otherwise we wouldn’t do the transfer.”

Fisher believes Golson has a great chance to compete for the starting job at FSU.

“I think he can throw the ball, run the ball. He is a leader. He is very cerebral. He makes good decisions. He is a winner,” Fisher concluded. “I think he will have an excellent opportunity to compete in our offense.”
The Kid is coming to play.. Jimbo has already told the boosters he wants Golson to be the FSU starting QB... You think hes coming to FSU to sit. You are .

Does nobody understand the difference between "I think you have a good shot of starting at QB" and "I guarantee you'll be starting QB in the fall"?

I agree Golson will most likely be starting come September. Doesn't mean that Jimbo has already given him the job.

Also, I've read that article already and don't know where it said Jimbo is leaning toward Golson? He said he thinks Golson has a good shot at starting but that doesn't mean he's leaning towards him already. Still a lot of time till September 5th.

See how EZ that was ! You know how many good schools wanted Golson ! Schools with good all around teams in place but no proven QB. You really think he came to FSU to sit. Hes got a handshake and Jimbos word he will be the starter or he would be somewhere else.
You have much to learn about the real world Grasshopper !

He's from SC and couldn't go to an SEC school cause of one of their rules. How many others schools really had a chance at getting him? I know he didn't come to FSU to sit. That doesn't mean that he was guaranteed a starting spot.

Where did I ever say that I didn't think Golson would be starting?

Also, nobody told me I was living in a fake world??

He could have gone to an SEC school. The school would just have to have a waiver signed by, I'm assuming, the SEC commissioner, which would have most likely been a sure thing considering he wasn't suspended due to criminal acts, which is really what the rule is meant for, but because he cheated on a test.

The addition of Everett Golson to the Florida State roster has made an impression on the folks in Las Vegas.

Bovada released updated National Championship odds on Wednesday and Florida State is now at 12-1, the highest team from the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Ohio State has the best odds at 7-2, followed by Alabama at 7-1, TCU at 10-1 and Auburn and the Noles at 12-1.

    Here's the list.

    Ohio State 7-2
    Alabama 7-1
    TCU 10-1
    Auburn 12-1
    Florida State 12-1

The list I saw had them go from 30-1 to 15-1
