I bought mine at the stealership. I was already there anyway to buy some clips and I saw it on the shelf and I bought it on impulse. I have a extang solid fold cover on my truck and I've always been paranoid that my cover and tailgate were going to get stolen. Hopefully it last a while. I don't like how flimsy the latch seems when I pull it open though. But other than that, it does the job.

Funny you should ask what I did to my Tacoma today...

8AM this morning I was driving down the road. Cars in front of me stopped for a school bus with red lights flashing. We all sat there for a good 10 seconds while the kids got on the bus. Finally the bus changed from flashing red to flashing amber lights and cars in front of me started to move. Before I even took my foot off the brake, BANG! I got hit from behind by a dude in a Subaru Forrester doing between 50-60mph. He never touched his brakes. It pushed me about 15 feet into the Camry in front of me. Did a lot of damage to the Camry as well.

Needless to say, my beautiful Tacoma is probably totaled. The bed is bent in half, there are dents in the cab where the bed hit it. My front bumper, grille and headlights are all busted up too.

I was taken to Urgent Care where they think my left rotator cuff is torn. Won't know for sure until I get an MRI scheduled. Naturally my back, neck and shoulder are unbelievably stiff and sore as well.

To top it all off, the guy that hit me has no driver's license or insurance. Thankfully I have uninsured motorist so I'm totally covered. CHP told me the guy was on his phone.

My rental vehicle is a silver 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab with chrome wheels. It looks just like my Tacoma on steroids.

I loved that Tacoma; had it set up exactly the way I like it thanks to many ideas from this forum. I hope I can find another one......maybe in Speedway Blue this time.

Thanks for listening. Now time for another Flexeril then off to bed.

I am soooo sorry dude. Glad you're ok (you're alive). I am so paranoid about that kind of stuff happening. This is where hazards come in handy (gets the attention of the driver in the rear of you if they don't have their head stuck up their ass that is). Get well soon.

Damn dude. That totally sucks. But it's good you're alive and already planning your next truck!
My friend recently had a similar expirience when someone rear ended his truck with no insurance. He went through hell to get money for it so good looking out on having uninsured driver coverage.
    Hope everything turns out ok.

Cool, I found mine on CL and thought they were all the same and then read the standard cabs were different. It's hard to beat the price of a good used one.

I installed the electric pop-n-lock. You wire it into the rear door lock wire in the left B pillar and it unlocks the gate when you unlock the rear doors. It uses the original gate latch by installing a solenoid inside the gate that locks and unlocks it. Two things I don't love about it, the solenoid makes a pretty loud clunking sound when it locks, and it automatically locks all the doors after you unlock it if you don't open a door after thirty seconds or so. I'm not sure what cancels the auto lock if you don't open a door, but opening just the gate doesn't cancel the auto lock. Hope that make sense, I've had a few.
