This is one of those totally speculative and thus rather useless posts, so if those annoy you feel free to move on! Oh, but this is TW, so you can post some scorn before going if you'd like ;)

Sales figures for mid-size trucks from the past few months (source: http://www.goodcarbadcar.net/p/sales-stats.html)

    Code:
    ......Tacoma..Canyon.Colorado.Frontier
    NOV...13018.....854....2366....6332
    DEC...14284....1533....4037....6060
    JAN...11409....2205....5942....5868
    FEB...12372....2513....6563....6106
    MAR...15885....2434....6621....7128
    APR...15656....2432....7010....5827

From that it sure looks like the 2016 coming has done nothing to reduce 2015 sales. Tacomas are still not spending hardly anytime on the lots it would seem. In fact sales ticked up in Mar/Apr for Tacomas while other mid-size sales were flat.

I know some people are wondering if they should wait until the 2016s hit the lots to see what kind of 2015 deal they can get, and I'm sure someone at the right dealer at the right time will get a deal. But I really wonder about how many 2015s there will be around when the 2016s hit the lots. Perhaps the generic "Joe Car Buyer" just isn't aware the 2016 is coming soon and so it hasn't impacted 2015 sales, but if these numbers hold the 2015s may just sell themselves fine right until the end.

I just got mine a month ago and it wasn't easy. Most dealers wouldn't budge on the price at all stating the Trd OR are rare on the lot and someone will buy it sooner or later. Believe me those dealers did sell theirs lol.

What is strange is the numbers of 2015's sold, went up, after 2016 Tacoma was revealed, usually its other way around.
With that speed Toyota will be out of 2015's in next couple month since they should be stopping production very soon to start 2016. I am guessing people don't like much 2016 Tacoma, or they trying to grab last truck that you can put supercharger on.

Coincidentally today I saw big 18 wheeler loaded with Colorados. I also did see white one , and it looked excellent but no way I am trading my 2gen for that.

Of course it is dangerous to read too much into noisy numbers we don't know much about, but the Tacoma numbers almost look like demand dipped while people ready to buy waited for information on the 2016 in Jan/Feb and then once they saw what the 2016 was they went ahead and spent their money on a 2015 in Mar/Apr. I did post the other mid-size sales in an attempt to eliminate the vagaries of seasonal or other market variations and by comparing it sure looks like Tacoma sales went down compared to the market in Jan/Feb and then up compared to the market Mar/Apr. So I think something unusual was going on there but of course no way to be sure it had anything to do with the 2016 reveal.

As a side note, interesting to see the Colorado/Canyon coming onto the market has effectively increased the total mid-size market sales by a whooping 50% in just a few months with no apparent reduction in sales volume to the Toyota/Nissan incumbents. That seems impressive to me, implies the mid-size market was very under served with pent up demand?

I think the cult following of the taco is enough to carry the line all by itself. Look at jeeps for example. IMO a total heap of junk backed by the worst manufacturer in the business. Guaranteed to rust, break down and be a pos... Guess what? Incredible resale and a cult following. Tacos are very over priced, and really don't have the creature comforts that the competition offers. Why did I buy it you ask? It is incredibly dependable and the resale is outstanding. Little more money up front, no major repairs for 150k, and a huge resale market of people lining up to fight over who gets it. 15,000 miles per year, 10 years of ownership, and then do it all over. Trucks are the most expensive thing we buy over the course of our lives. Toyota tacos do it for way less money per mile.

    I have to agree.
Colorado numbers are very impressive. Almost tripling sales in couple months is a noteworthy success.
I think Colorado wins in look department with 2016 Tacoma. Not to mention it has 7000LB towing capacity which is more than what 2016 will have. If MPGs on 2016 are worse than 2016, Toyota will have major problem on their hands.

Dealership told me two weeks ago they can't keep them on the lot. People are buying up 2015s since they like the current generation and want a new one. No deals to be had.

I was looking at a 2015 DCLB 4x4 SR5 didn't have any special options. I was told 29,XXX.00 out the door. I was pleased with the price. I would of ended up taking out a loan for 16,000 and some change for a brand new one. But I can't justify selling off my 3 year old truck that I have had for less than a year.

I bought mine a few months ago after the 2016 reveal. To me the 2015 is a better looking truck and I dont want to be the guinnea pig on a new generation of tacomas with an entirely new powertrain and 'what ifs'. Got a decent rebate on my TRD

Must be a Florida thing, I just checked local Dealer and they have 0 offers for Tacoma, not even usual $500 for Veterans.

The dealers usually only list on internet manufacturer incentives. you need to start with email, then go face-to-face and negotiate.

I had to order my 2015, arrived on the lot a little over a month ago. It was a couple weeks before I could pick it up. The dealership said hey had tons of other dealers calling trying to get it for their lots. They said they can't keep the trd sports in stock
