Maybe you could ask someone from Toyota about how many people are finding the excessive chrome on the grill to be less than flattering and if all production trims/models will have the same grill treatment.

 

I have a feeling that the TRD Sport will have the grill you saw on the limited and the limited will have the chrome grill. Remember these are still preproduction models and there will be some changes before the final product gets released.

 

Whoops. Despite my GenI TundraFap I'm very interested in the Gen3 Tacoma. Tundra won't last forever putting 18k miles a year on it and towing. At that rate I'll be at 200k miles four years from now and hopefully a certified Gen3 will be a worthy successor.

 

We could only hope.

 

Please figure out if existing suspension systems will fit!

 

Suspension, air bags, anything. Can't wait

I was thinking about this thread last week, and I think it would be an awesome idea if vendors or after-market manufacturers had a post they could update with stuff that they've custom tailored to fit the 2016. That or product that they're making special for the 2016 due to the changes they find during this measuring session.

 

Yes it would be nice to know if the suspension carried over

 

I emailed Icon back in February on how long it would take to roll out a new suspension for the 2016. This was their response:

"All the reports we have gotten on the 2016 Tacoma so far is no change to the chassis. So it should be a pretty fast thing once it’s out. If the chassis hasn’t changed it will be one time test fit and drive and then it will be ready."

 

Interesting since its an "all new truck" according to some. Not bitching, it will be nice for people to swap over there stuff, but just pointing out for the people who swear its not a rehashed 2nd gen.

 

I took a look at the 2016 this past weekend at the Overland Expo and from what I can tell, suspension should be able to swap right over from the 2nd gen to this new 3rd gen. Since the cab is also the same, as is the inner part of the bed, floor mats and bed rugs/bed mats should also be an easy swap as well. Granted I am not an engineer, nor was I down there with a tape measure, but to the naked eye, suspension looked to be identical, as did the frame, body mounts and lug pattern on the wheels

 

It's not an all new truck and it's not a rehashed Gen 2. Please show me one person other than Mike Sweers that says it is an all new truck. Most people can understand that though this truck is not 100% new there is enough in it that is new that it is the next generation Tacoma. Oh that and the fact that Bill Fay and Mike Sweers call it the next generation Tacoma. You might want to let this go at some point cause you are not going to be proven right.

 

I have been proven right. Your the one along with a few others that continue to try to say otherwise. Mike and Bill may call it a 3rd Gen all they want to try and sell trucks, the point being is it's an updated 2nd Generation, how else can you get that through your head, Im trying to be nice here, but you cant argue the fact that it clearly has carried over components, similar body line, shared parts, shared cab, etc. Sorry but to most people that would not constitute a totally new truck and generation. Toyota and you and whoever can call it whatever you want. But its a updated 2nd gen, big updates, but none the less strip it down, its bones are from 2005.

 

I personally don't know what people EXPECT from a truck design? Isn't the new engine & new tranny enough? Or do they expect it to totally change shape and become an open top minivan? Do they want it to look like a bloated groundhog, or a wimpy little lowrider? It's a truck.....it's gonna still LOOK LIKE A TRUCK.

 

Again show one quote where someone said this truck was 100% new. I never said this was an all new truck as you stated. I said that the two high up people from Toyota are calling it the next generation Tacoma and the only person from Toyota that you have saying it is not works behind the parts counter.Lol! I personally beleive there is enough new( new engine,new trams,new front end look,crawl control just to mention a few)with this Tacoma to justify calling it a legit Gen 3. You don,t that's fine. And since when does the definition of a next generation vehicle mean it has to be 100% new.Since never that's when. Take a look at other next gen vehicles out there and see how many are 100% new. Don,t worry about being nice as this is just a disagreement. Show me the facts to back up your statement about me and others saying this is an all new truck.Sorry if Toyota is calling this their next generation Tacoma and I happen to agree.

 

Holy shit every single thread with 3rd gen mentioned ends up in this same ridiculous argument!? This thread has nothing to do with the gen 3 " is it really " argument. Can you guys just create a new thread in the Gen 3 section and call it " Argue about Gen 3 shit here " and leave everyone else's eyeballs alone please.
