Thanks Dragonslady and Voz, I am looking forward to being a part of a group of people that appreciate their vehicles. I used to be in car club back a few years ago for my Grand Am GT, but that car is long past me, and I have been looking for my next fun project. As far as more details on mods and whatnot, I am currently leasing this truck so everything I do, will need to be easily undone. Once my lease is up in two years, I will determine if I want to actually purchase the new model or keep this one. I have mixed feelings about the new model specs that have been seen so far. Getting rid of one of the most dependable V6 engines ever makes me not sure which direction I will go.

A lot of us like to go to Uwharrie and get our trucks dirty. It's so much fun. We usually go as a group and would love to have you come along. We are having a meet in June of you are interested. Not the usual meet though but you are invited to come along and have some awesome fun with us.

I'm with you Goblin - I just joined the Taco community too. These guys are really helpful, assuming you know how to use google and have some ideas of your own to contribute to the conversation.

I bought a stock '06 that I am currently toying with different ideas for. I have had it just over a month and have since added 4" nerf bars, tinted the front windows (rear was already done), and added in-channel visors.

Next up is a muffler, I am torn between the Magnaflow 14" (or maybe 18") vs. a Spintech muffler. It is really hard to gauge the sound from youtube videos due to quality but a lot of people on here seem to have a Magnaflow and like it. My local shop also recommended the Magnaflow. If for no other reason, it is stainless steel and has a lifetime warranty. Most others are just aluminized steel (cough cough flowmaster).

Once I am due for new tires (unless I find a great deal in the interim I can't pass up) I am going to add Bilstein 5100 struts to my stock coils in the front and get a 1.5 AAL in the rear to give the truck an overall ~3" lift so I can get 33" tires.

That SHOULD be the last of the mods I do (at least for a while).

    The Nerf bars were $350
    Tint $100
    Visors $100

The mufflers I am considering are between $80-$100 then tips seem to run around $30. I have been quoted $50 for the install unless I can get Dragon to do it for a case of yuengling

    Struts are around $180
    AAL somewhere around $75
(Quotes for install for these are outrageous, but from the sounds of things, the people here are more than willing to help install for some cold ones :drunk:)

Tires...haven't even started researching those, but since it HAS to have tires, I won't have to justify the cost of those to the wife  :ballchain:

If you do enough research you will be able to save your wallet a little pain, but from what I have discovered in my short time in the Taco world, it is going to be an expensive habit :(...but when you look out the window and see your baby sitting out front, it is all worth it. Here is a before/after of mine with what I have done so far. I think it looks mean, just needs to sit up taller and let out a scream when I punch it up the street.:mudding:

Thundercookies I too want to do an exhaust but hoping I might meet some folks here so I can hear my options in person. Not sure about the June party, will have to run that past the boss (my wife's). Two young kids keep me from being able to spend too much money, but I am building a list. :)

I'm thinking the same thing. If anyone in my area (Raleigh, wake forest) happens to have some sort of after market exhaust set up I'd love to come hear it in person. I'm occasionally out in the RTP area too (if I ever decide to go into the office vs. working from home) if anyone is out that way.

I'm sure, but you know it doesn't work that way. We drink and supervise. Lol
But yeah, that looks like the right one, design has been upgraded a little despite some reviews. I like mine. Easy to use, and a little more protection. Works great with the tonneau or besttop to keep wandering hands out. Like anything it won't keep a determined thief out, but it helps slow em down. Next I need a switch I can wire to the alarm so I can make sure I closed it. Can't see it closed or open with the top on.
